Anyone here who likes Prefab Sprout? Prefab Sprout is a big part of my childhood, since my older brother listened alot to their music in the late 80s/early 90s. I always found them a bit too sugar-sweet for my tastes, especially the really popular stuff like "King of Rock n' Roll"....
On my recent visit to Dublin, I decided to buy the new remastered version of "Steve McQueen" (or "Two Wheels Good" as it is known in the US) because I kept hearing about how this band was really underrated and that is absolutely true. I really enjoy this particular album and Paddy McAloon is indeed a criminally underrated songwriter. My favorite song from the band at the moment is "Goodbye Lucille (Johnny Johnny)". I just love the lyrics and the intense vocals of Paddy in the second half of the song. I have yet to delve into the 2nd disc of the remaster with the new acoustic versions and I'm wondering which Prefab album I should get next. Any recommendations? [Edited 4/29/07 16:16pm]

Spin magazine highly recommended their album back in '88 or '89. I ventured the $16 (a sizeable chunk for a kid my age at the time) and got it. What a mistake, I hated it
I've never trusted stupid album reviews since .

In the early 90's a friend of mine introduced me 2 their music.
It was classy and Paddy McAloon got a lot of respect from pop/rock journalists in Europe. They just were 2 good 4 the charts and general public. Don't know about their albums but love the Best of. When love breaks down,Goodbye Lucille,We let the stars go,appetite, cars & girls,Machine gun Ibiza...great pop songs! [Edited 4/30/07 3:55am] Love4oneanother
