Part 3:
Berlin was an absolute joy! I've gone clubbing a lot in my life, but I've never been anywhere as fun, exciting and comfortable as this place. It was only really my 2nd time there and it was just as I remembered it. I love how small it is, but how packed it gets. I love how basically the whole thing is a dancefloor, but people use it how they want to. I love the bartenders, the DJ, the people. I guess I'm jaded by a bunch of clubs with scenesters and fashionistas who are there mostly to be seen. Everyone at Berlin is friendly. Everyone dances. And they dance like they mean it. Both times there, I've worked some serious shit out. After the minor annoyance of forgetting my ID, I was pleased to see that the place filled up nicely while I was away. I took a risk by drinking, but I was determined to have a great time. For the majority of the first hour, they were playing video footage of her Coachella performance, various live stuff, slower music videos and television parodies. They kept building the momentum throughout the night until they had the whole place rocking. Once they got into Declare Independence, Pluto, Alarm Call, Who Is It and Triumph of a Heart, it was all over. My whole group was pretty much screaming and wild at that point and all the months of not seeing some of my best friends washed away within minutes. As excited as I was for the show the following night, this felt just as important. They got into some custom remixes for songs I would never imagine dancing to normally. But the DJ did a fantastic job with Pagan Poetry, Atlantic and some of her dreamier ballads. They also held drawings for prizes. First was for 2 pairs of tickets. Next was for a copy of Volta and a promo "Earth Intruders" single. All you had to do was answer 3 really simple Bjork trivia questions to enter the raffle. Everyone with me entered, but it seems like the whole club did cuz the bowl was STUFFED. Well wouldn't you know the first winner was Darin (Endo)! 15 minutes later...Anx. 15 minutes after that...ME!! What are the chances? Just another sign that the weekend was charmed. We stayed just shy of an hour before closing. Several of us were trying to dance, but there was a steady stream of traffic on the dancefloor that made it difficult to move, let alone dance. So we took our plastered asses to the local 24 hour takeout taco joint and called it a night. I haven't had that much fun in I don't know how long. But how could I not with the coolest people around, the best club and a night full of Bjork? We were fully lubed up and ready to go for the following night...

There has certainly been a strange "aura" when it comes to our Bjork shows hasn't there? Chicago ~ totally SOLD OUT but there we were ~ even meeting her. Toronto with the customs lady (but that's a different story). Toronto 2 with you trying to tell directions by the sun and with the ferry almost pulling away as we were pulling in. I truly wish I could have gone to the show with you but it sounds like Ivy had a stellar time. Still waiting for the concert review! Music is the language of the spirit. The Chicago Sun-Times on Ghostdigital (via Bjork blog on MySpace):
"As Curver delivered a punishingly loud electro-clash assault, Einar ranted and raved, prancing about the stage and sometimes bounding off it to stroll down the aisle, only steps behind a portion of the audience that ran for the shelter of the lobby to ride out the storm. Those of us who stayed were rewarded with a provocative performance in the great electronic-punk tradition of Suicide, making you think, laugh and surrender to the glorious noise and chaos, and reminding veteran Björk-watchers of when she first started to fly her freak-flag high."
I always thought the Sun-Times was crap.

And if this is exactly what comes out on CD, it might not even be eligible for the singles chart. Basically we're getting 2 remixes here. I hope that something comes of that song "Trance" that everyone is talking about.

wow, that single is a huge let down.

i wish there wasn't such a big ugly crackdown on posting homemade remixes on the net...the basement djs are surely having a field day with 'earth intruders' and could likely crank out mixes LEAGUES better than what the 'official' singles are cranking out. it's a shame. this song begs for strong remixes.

My show was a week and a half ago and I still haven't written my review. I'm the king of unfinished business. I got home kinda late last night and listened to "Earth Intruders" in surround sound and then realized that I really wanted to hear the whole album at a high volume to really appreciate it which is something I couldn't have done (at least without disturbing my neighbors) at that hour. So I'll listen to the entire album proper another night when I'm home earlier or this weekend. Nice pics on the TV screen for each song though.

I think my favorites are
Earth Intruders (it's just so energetic!) Wanderlust (masterpiece) Innocence (fun! fun! fun!) I See Who You Are Vertebrae By Vertebrae (creepy!) and Declare Independence has really grown on me. it's just so ridiculous, but I really get into it when it's on.
