I'm finding that it's taking more thought. I've been thinking about the 70s one a lot.

I'm finding that it's taking more thought. I've been thinking about the 70s one a lot. It is hard, because considering quality AND quantity is a bit tough. Michael Jackson didn't rank in any of my lists even though he's my number 14 artist. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! I was thinking the same might happen to Janet for me.

True. Cuz Sade's so frikkin' lazy, there is only about 1 album/decade that I really care about by her.

You should hire Ian. indeed! i guess i'd replace NIN with StEt, since I've enjoyed them more consistently throughout the 90s. i dunno where i'd put stereolab.

It's an incredibly good piece of candy. And to underscore the impact it has made on me, I recently purchased the remastered edition of Tracey Ullman's similarly styled 'You Broke My Heart In 17 Places' CD and love that as well. I'm now considering really indulging myself and getting Rhino's girl group box set that was released a few years ago. spelling [Edited 4/21/07 19:48pm]

It's a pretty irresistible sound - very easy to like. I'm almost positive my sister has that Ullman album in her vinyl collection. I'll have to try to nick it from her next time I'm over for dinner. I don't know it past the big hit, but I've heard it's quite a solid album. edit - was just reading up on the Ullman album. I had no idea that Kristy MacColl wrote and originally recorded They Don't Know... She had an album I really liked in the mid-late eighties. I'm blanking on the name of it, but it had a Smiths cover or two on it... [Edited 4/22/07 13:41pm]

I don't know it past the big hit, but I've heard it's quite a solid album. Why I've never gotten a Ronettes comp in the past, I have no idea. I didn't realize the Ullman album was all covers before I bought it. The remastered version has a few neat extra tracks. Oh, and the latest Raveonettes album 'Pretty In Black' is also benefitting from my current Pipettes-mania. When I first got it, I thought it was the worst of their three albums. Now I feel the exact opposite about it.

Yes indeed. I knew that was a cover only because I had done research on the single before buying the album.

I found samples of the songs "Penthouse In The Woods" and "Grudge" from that album. Love the piano in the latter. They are kinda alt-country-ish. Good rainy Sunday evening stuff. Very cool.
