This thread is about 5 rock/metal bands that made music with hip-hop elements at one time or too often. So how many of you orgers are/were into their music proudly.....or full of regrets?!?

only the Anthrax collab with P.E. - Bring the Noise and Faith's No More's Epic (that put them on the map). i'm from Detroit so ICP have always been a local joke. can't name a Korn or Limp Bizkit song

yeah I love Korn and Bizkit. Nu-Metal rocks. Korn's "Follow The Leader" and LB's "Significant Other" are modern day rock classics.

Don't lump Faith No More in with that lot! FNM were brilliant. Mike Patton is still one of the greatest singers my ears have ever heard.

Anthrax weren't bad.

The rest are utter SHITE. Ridiculously terrible.

I used to love Faith No More, Limp Bizkit, and Korn.

I wasn't a fan of any of these bands, but I did go to the record store and buy Limp Bizkit's Significant Other disc back in 1999 when the song "Nookie" was big.

I was in my junior year of high school, I believe?

Anyhoo, I still JAM off of the song "NO SEX" -- that is the chase, still.

Faith No More,

I wouldn't say a fan,but I did have the albums with the swan on the cover,..Angel Dust I think.
and the one with the rhino.
I've heard of the other bands,but never got into them.

Dude, Anthrax and FNM should not be mentioned in the same breath as the others.

I can't even really stand to listen to their music these days. Beyond, "Make Me Bad," "Got The Life," 'Wicked" and "Word Up" it all sounds like screaming bullshit. (Beyond that, since I got rid of a lot of their CDs, I have no desire to rediscover them.)

I prefer artists who can actually sing and sing well these days. Soon after I gave up Korn, I got back into 70's funk music (Sly Stone) and back into MJ.


It was also around this time I really fell into Prince. I rediscovered the Batman soundtrack, picked up "The Very Best of Prince" (It was a result of this I discovered a lot of his timeless classics, that are AMAZING to this day.) I also then picked up "The Rainbow Children." (It was either before or after - can't really remember now." Needless to say, "The Work" became my jam and Korn left my ears and never really returned.

I kinda like the nu-metal buzz cuz those bands are in the same orbit as Living Colour. FNM and Korn are cool and Anthrax has always had street cred ICP is a joke, but LB is kinda dull. Tool and RATM are cool too.

Not that I've seen any of these live or got many of their records, but I do listen to SIRIUS OCTANE on a regular basis.

I had a big crush on the lead singer of Faith No More...outside of that.

I don't know much about metal, but wax is for Anthrax. The Anthrax/Public Enemy "Bring The Noise" remake was pretty cool.

Back in the day, I used to like that Faith No More song and video "You Want It All But You Can't Have It".

ICP came up with some clever stuff, weren't writing about a bunch of stupid gangsta shit all the time, and had a sense of humor too, which I liked. I don't know why they get lumped in with the Nu-Metal all the time, they don't sound rock at all.

I bought Korn's first disc when I was in high school and liked it a lot. Years later I'd picked up a couple of other discs used on a whim. But these guys were innovators. I mean, a lot of the devices, rhythms, sounds, etc. that most of the other nu metal bands used came from Korn's first record.

Anthrax: The only song I can remember of with them is that collab with Public Enemy, "Bring the Noise"

Korn: Back in '97 I heard "Good God" and "A.D.I.D.A.S." and as a 15 year old kid I was instantly hooked! From '97-'99 Korn was one of my favourite bands. Kinda lost interest in them in the noughties, except my interest renewed in them in 2004 when they finally played in Reykjavík. After that, nothing of their new stuff has really captured me. I do occasionally listen to "Follow the Leader" and "Life is Peachy", especially the former.

Limp Bizkit: I remember in '98 when one of my friends bought their first CD, which contained their cover of "Faith". Basically from '98 to 2001 I loved their stuff. My interest really faded after Wes left the band. I never listen to them these days, especially since Fred Durst got more and more annoying IMO.


Faith No More: One of those bands that's always been there in the background, although I did recently buy a FNM compilation. Their stuff has really held up compared to the bands I mentioned before. Mike Patton is of course a genius. His stuff with Mr. Bungle is really interesting. Interestingly enough, when I saw Korn play in Reykjavík, Fantómas (fronted by Mike Patton) was the opening act. That band's sound is bizarre, to say the least.

Insane Clown Posse: Their stuff was never played in Iceland, so the only times I heard of them was thru the internet or occasionally on MTV. They've always been a joke to me, even at the time I really was digging Limp Bizkit.
