Phil - Great job!!! He sounded the best he's ever sounded.

Jordin - Fantastico! Probably the smartest singer in the competition! She is constantly picking the best song for her... what can't she sing?

Sanjaya - Ugh... said he wanted to do Bonnie Raitt justice - then he should have never opened his mouth. That was pathetic.

Lakisha - Ugh... Horrible... she looked nervous and sounded waaaay out of place.

Chris - Eh... zzzzz - Funny, he actually said we'd be surprised at how comfortable he was with country music. He sucked.

Melinda - Great job! I don't buy the "black girls not feeling comfortable with this genre of music" statement... Jordin and Melinda closed the case on that argument tonight.

Blake - eh... Boring - and I usually like him.

Personally, I like it when they focus on one particular style of music. I think it lets us see just what kind of performer these potential "idols" are. Whether or not the theme is your style, you should still be able to kick its ass. Tonight Phil, Jordin and Melinda kicked its ass!!!

they said they were 87% accurate last season

as u can see the margin of error is big so they have 6outta 7 ppl in the B3
and last week lakisha was the last one and she wasnt even in the B3 u can also go back on that website and see the results from other weeks so u get a better idea

You are wasting your time. Idol will continue whether you or anyone wants it around or not. Now if they revamp it, then I can get with it but I don't know if this is the right way to go about in getting it changed.

It'll either be that next year REALLY GOOD singers will get to the top 24 (as it should be in the first place)

or

Voting will change to "Vote Off" the worst.

Totally agree too...I want to like Blake but the way he opens his mouth to sing bugs me....

I also hate that he took credit few weeks back for doing The Cure's 'Love Song' in that reggae style he did...311 did that version on the '50 First Dates' soundtrack...he was not called out on that like Daughtry was called out last year for singing 'Walk The Line' like the band Live...and last night he sang a Ryan Adams song that was covered by Tim McGraw....bet he didnt know that...

Maybe I overthink to much over this damn show!

I really think Jordin's gonna win. Melinda falling 2nd would work best for her so she does not end up making a watered down power pop/r&b album and she could do what she does best....

I could hear Jordin on the radio...she could end up being up there with Kelly and Carrie...huge...

Haha! lol I'm glad somebody else said this. It bugs me, too. Whenever he opens his mouth, it looks like he's going to yawn. I kinda wanna shove one of my leftover Easter eggs up in that bitch. There's no good reason for it to bug me, but it does.

I think Melinda's got the best voice and she suits my tastes more, but I don't see her winning. I think it'll be Jordin or boring old Blake.

From what I heard, country isn't a kind genre for black women (in more ways than one...I mean, how many African American female country singers are there? THere are a few men here and there). However, I bet it treats a young Indian man very kindly!

I mean, when you really think about it, stuff like this is the reason why AI is such a huge joke. If it was singers always doing songs in their genre of music, fine. This is so unrealistic and absurd, really! Talk about no artist development!

confuse actually, throwing genres of music that they aren't comfortable with at them and getting them to do something with it, instead of staying inside their little box, is exactly what's going to develop them as artists.

I disagree. It like trying to create artists rather than letting them do their own thing. You would force Prince to sing in a genre, would you? It's like "dance puppet, dance!".

Puppets are what they're creating. They haven't produced a single artist. Decent singers, yes, but the winners have their first singles chosen for them and their careers largely defined for the immediate future.

That said, I can't believe I enjoyed Phil last night!

You are not overthinking at all. lol In fact, I didn't know Ryan Adams did the song Blake sang first. I would have thought it was all Tim McGraw. I thought I was the only one who thought 311 had done Love Song in that reggae style and I was surprised that they didn't call him on it too. But come to think of it, when Blake did that 311 song early in the Top 24, they didn't know who 311 was. I can totally see Jordin winning. She's perfect for the show. Not to say that Melinda can't and won't win but Jordin has what AI loves in a winner. All I know is in less then an hour, we'll have another new episode of Idol! excited dancing jig woot!

I still have a couple hours (i'm in Cali)

The judges did think the 311 song was 'current' lol...I guess it still kind of is..esp here in Southern Cali...

YES...you must check out the original 'When The Stars Go Blue' by Ryan..off the 'Love Is Hell' album...the entire album is full of mellow beautiful songs...

What did you think of Chris R? I know he's from Virginia and was no doubt in shock (like most of us) over the shootings...but I think the timing and manner he chose to give that shout out and hold back tears...it looked like he was going for the sympathy vote...he had just been slammed by the judges and it just looked a little desperate...again I could be overthinking but that was my original reaction.

I really hope its Sanjaya's time to go...or Chris...Phil should have another week or two...LaKiesha is the one I'm really scared about..but she was just okay and compared to the other 2 ladies...she lacks the spunk.

Melinda is brilliant....she's my favorite..along with Jordin (shes a Phoenix girl...thats my hometown...soft spot for me)....

ugh..the anxiety of elimination night has begun!

shrug i dunno. if i could, i'd force him to do a rock album biggrin

but Prince is a pretty poor example for you to use, as someone who has recorded in MANY genres of popular music. so yeah, i stand by what i said. it's better for them to have to try and do something different than the same old thing if they want to be considered artists.

i'm also shocked and not shocked about Lakisha. she's one of the best singers on there, however, i think she peaked too early. it's been several weeks since she's had a knock-out (or even pretty good) performance.
