Teddy Riley's working on his album. That's always a good thing. Teddy Riley's sound is sooooo 1992 Do you really think that he's still a relevent producer?

Instead of a big,glossy,over-produced album with alot of hype and unrealistic expectations,he should simply do an MTV Unplugged.Get up there with a small band and just SING!! Remind people why they became fans in the first place. Why go through the pressure of trying to make some big "comeback"? He tried that strategy with his last few albums and he fails everytime. Do an MTV Unplugged, sing his heart out and watch his fans go nuts! He could surprise people by playing songs he doesn't normally do ("I Can't Help It","Blues Away",some obscure Jackson Five songs, etc). No hype,no pressure,no grand entrance,no fireworks...just Michael and his band, playing a soulful acoustic set. This will be an amazing way to re-introduce him to the pop music world. I so agree with this. Cut out the two-hour dance video type of concerts he has done in the past and use what made him famous in the first place, his voice.; Rather than singing the same Billie Jeans and Smooth Criminal songs, he should limit them to about 3 or 4 and concentrate more on those precious gems like; I can't Help it, Looking Through the Windows, Darling Dear, Lady in My Life, Blues Away. The type of song he wouldn't normally do at concerts. Has MJ grows older he needs a more sophisticated set, not the same all dancing Lip-synching show he has been doing since Dangerous. Exactly. And if this project is a success,he could do an entire acoustic tour.

Teddy might be able to pull something off for MJ.
Rodney... RJ + MJ = OP (over produced) Will.I.Am... we might be pleasantly surprised. Actually, what I fear more than the music being wack is some problem creeping up to sabotage the shelf-life of this project. Whether it be bad botox, a lawsuit, illness or another allegation, I almost expect something to go wrong. But personally, I'd like to see him go in another direction and I don't think he's going to do it or at least not enough to really knock me off my feet. Throw in Butterflies and it's perfect, but unfortunately I can't see him having the nerve to expose his voice in public to that extent. He seems to avoid singing live like the plague these days.

Btw I think your list should also contain one of his Jacksons ballad ie All I do, Found A way, Find Me girl. Beautiful songs people rarely ever hear that are hidden away.

some other songs that could be performed in a setting like that:
"Liberian Girl" "It's The Falling In Love" "Stranger In Moscow" "2300 Jackson Street" (with his brothers making a surprise appearance) "Destiny" the possibilities are endless. He could even do a few cover songs.

If Michael Jackson were to do an intimate "Unplugged" type of performance, it could possibly be as huge as Elvis Presley's comeback special was in 1968. Up to that point, Elvis was considered a joke and washed up; yet when he did the comeback special, he reminded people why they fell in love with is music in the first place. Michael could potentially do the same thing, and possibly remind this latest generation of music fans who love Justin Timberlake, Usher, etc., why he became such a big star in the first place.
I doubt that either Michael Jackson or Madonna (or even Mariah for that matter) will sell 10 million albums in this current music climate. In the last few years, the only artists to sell 5 million copies or more of their albums were Mariah, Kelly Clarkson, and Carrie Underwood.

His back catalogue is so much more impressive than the more recent stuff, simply because he did a lot more albums in the pass than he did in the last 20 years. So on each album starting with "Diana Introduces The Jackson 5" to "Thriller" there is so much stuff that was never release and are just wonderful, hidden gems, be it "Get on The Floor" from OTW or "Destiny" from the Destiny album to "Everybody" from the Truimph album. He can easily pull all these songs out plus more recent stuff and do a great unplug concerts with them. [Edited 4/18/07 9:39am]

Michael Jackson will come out on top, both artistically and commercially. Dipsite the fact Michael's repuation needs fixing, his repuation as an influential pop star is hugh. So many of today's pop stars are influnced by Michael Jackson, and his name is always mentioned by them. Michael Jackson is the star who's genius lesser talents are unable to fill.
Even Madonna is influenced by Michael, she's never suprised me as everything she does Michael Jackson, David Bowie and Prince have done before her bigger and better. If Michael Jackson stops the choreographed MTV Music Awards performances of songs like Dangerous, and stops lip-syncing and singing live again and dancing with raw power like he did in the 1970's and 80's, then Michael Jackson will be on top of the music world again. Because Madonna is nothing more than a support act to Michael Jackson, David Bowie and Prince. I think she's very overrated, she's a success because she's ruthless, not because she's an exceptional talent.

i don't think that's true,no really cares cause he's not doing anything to care about much.i believe michael will come out on top i'd believe you if it was 2001, not 2007. It's been almost 6 years since the last MJ album. if you consider the majority of the people that buy albums are teens, they have only been around long enough to remember the scandals. They have no real connection musically to MJ. To them he is someone their parents listened to. In 2001 it was people around my age buying albums and we grew up on Michael of the Thriller and Bad and Dangerous and HIStory eras. The kids today only knoow post HIStory Michael. Madonna has done 2 albums and 3 tours in the time between MJ releases. They grew up with Bedtime Stories, Ray of Light, Music, American Life and Confessions on a Dancefloor. In the end though this arguement is moot because only one is going to put out an album this year. You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

out of the 2 of them i think Michael will come out on top but i doubt he will have his album out by November would be awesome if he did but it normally takes him forever to produce an album
the reason i think that the album would get alot of sales is with alot of PR through appearences and backing from radio DJs which Invincible had (or at least in the UK they seemed to love butterflies) then alot of the older fans who no longer know much about his music etc will have there intrest recaptured and there are alot of fans still around If Michael was willing to do a tour or even a couple of concerts in which he sang more than in HIStory and still managed to do some dancing he would easily beat Madonna With Love there is no Death

I wonder if Madonna would be still such a big star if she was not reminding the public of herself every two years. Her latest music was nothing special to me - just stealing music from others - Hang up - Abba, Sorry - Jacksons, Jump - Pet Shop Boys...
I think she´s still up there just for her genius promotion, controversy and so-called re-invention which is only about attracting the public´s attention. I do like some of her work (Erotica, Bedtime Stories), but the rest is just a commercial fill-up for me. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."
