Sly will be making an appearance at one of our summertime festivals too, the Pori Jazz festival. He'll be playing on June 20. I'm gonna go see him too
There will be a whole bunch of other people performing too, of course, most notably Tower Of Power. Pori Jazz is the only summertime festival actually worth checking out here in Finland. All the other festivals are usually headlined by metal acts and mainstream stuff. Some of the people I've seen perform at Pori Jazz: James Brown Stevie Wonder Wayne Shorter Quartet (Wayne's more notable employer was Miles Davis. He composed many of Miles' tunes during his tenure with him.) It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

The general report was that he was a little rusty at first, but grew into it and seemd happy to be back. I think he'll be getting more and more comfortable beeing on stage each time.Remember he's been away a looooong time. Reviews on the latest gig can be found at www.slystonebook.com /peace Manki

To be perfectly frank, based on what i've seen of his appearances at the Grammys & Vegas, unfortunately I don't have much hope for his future as a stage performer again. Hopefully, he can revive his recording/writing career. From what i've heard, he's been writing good stuff all during his absence. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Sly will headline in San Jose for a crowd of 20,000
An article by Shay Quillen-The Mercury News-April 4,2007 Reclusive Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Sly Stone has hardly been seen in decades, other than an odd, brief appearance at the Grammys last year.So imagine my surprise at the announcement that the man and his Family Stone are slated to headline an outdoor concert for 20,000 or so July 7 at the Arena Green, right next to the HP Pavilion. The bill also features the Average White Band and the Latin Sensations (featuring members of Malo and other big Latin rock names, including Jorge Santana).Tickets for $15 are already on sale. It wouldn't be his first appearance of the year.Stone showed up Sunday to play for about 30 minutes with the new version of the Family Stone at the Flamingo in Las Vegas after a set by comdeian George Wallace.John Katsilometes of the Las Vegas Sun wrote that the 64-year old Stone was wearing a neck brace and "appeared uncommonly frail" but added that "his voice was strong and he seemed charged at the experience." San Jose event promoter Franco Herrera says via e-mail that Sly and the Family Stone will head off on a European tour after the San Jose gig. Really? Will Sly show up at all? If so,will he be able to take us higher? Stay tuned. This promises to be interesting.
