Madonna heads UK Live Earth bill

Madonna, Genesis, James Blunt and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be among the headliners at the London show of the global series of Live Earth concerts.
They will be joined at Wembley Stadium by groups including Foo Fighters, Duran Duran, Snow Patrol and Razorlight.

Live Earth will take place on 7 July across seven continents, as a way of highlighting climate change.

Some of the acts had already endorsed the project but Wembley's full line-up had not previously been confirmed.

Further details were to be released on Tuesday regarding the US leg of Live Earth, the organisers promised.

I hope she gives a better performance than the shrill and rather soul-less Live 8 performance she gave. Ooooh the fun of speculating what songs she'll sing.

It's funny how opinions can differ. I've heard a few people say that. Personally, I thought she was embarrassing - publicly chiding her band after the first song before regaining her composure, then dragging the Ethiopian girl around like she was some kind of trophy.

It was a decent enough performance - I guess I just found the whole of the live 8 show rather flat and disappointing. M's performance was professional, and probably did outshine most others - but you could tell she was nervous as her voice wasn't at all relaxed, hence the shrill sound to it. I cringed when she said "are you fucking ready London" - it just seemed so contrived.

It was cringeworthy, not to mention irresponsible with the children in the audience. She guaranteed her own publicity again. Bringing that girl out was for your own gains was just in poor taste.

Oh horseshit, it's a rock concert with rock stars and swearing is part of their attitude. Pete Townshend among others swore at Live 8 too. Why aren't you knocking them? Oh because it's Madonna?

I guess it's irresponsible Prince swore throughout his career because kids were in the audience and listening to his albums...

its a rock concert, is swearing a necessity then? no. I dont care who was there and who swore, too. It was calculated, and down right pathetic. It was irresponsible as it was a world stage and it helped fill the papers with madonna, not the cause of live 8. Just what she wanted. she is talentless. its her only amo - ahem.. controversy. No, just down right sad.

Exactly my point, it bothered you because it was Madonna. Case closed. Other people swore and you aren't saying anything about them, let alone being a Prince fan, who has never had an issue saying as he pleases.

If you're going to make a point, don't be a hyprocrite.

Isn't it just hilarious how people need to make the point that Madonna does everything for attention and here they are giving her the attention they despise her getting. lol lol

It's true, Madonna is God. She always gets her way.

I actually just found it contrived that she did it in a totally forced way. normally when she swears she does it because she talks like that, but this just sounded wrong to my ears. If she'd said "C'Mon Motherfuckers lets hear you", Id have loved it because she always says things like that in concert, but this just sounded like her trying to get the F word in during a live feed - more being playful than wanting attention.
I mean you're one of the major acts on the bill, the whole world is watching you anyway. A swear word isn't going to increase that attention at all -and no one cares enough about swearing nowadays to discuss it afterwards so i disagree with you.

Also, to whoever mentioned Annie Lennox, you're right -I completely forgot about that performance - amazing, the performance of the occasion.

Meh, I didn't see it as forced. She just screamed it instead of saying it. She probably throught it was a good way to get the crowd going, but we forgot people like 3121 were there with their kids and thought she was trying to poison them. lol

Is flying in loads of artists/celebrities and fans driving miles to come see some concerts (that will be using a huge amount of electricity) a sensible way to highlight what is happening to the planet?
