The video is a work of art. I posted on this a long time ago and was surprised by the love for the video/song "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

It's perfect. I wish he would claim this one as a live standard. He seems to have dropped it after '99. Shame.

It's a little masterpiece, very mature and soulful, but with a modern touch. This song and the Hours album showed that Bowie still had it after all that dreadful experiments with techno and industrial rock (sorry, but I can't stand the Outside-Earthling era).

i spent a year listening to Earthling. i loved that album so much. Earthling is one my least favourite Bowie albums. I like half of the stuff of Outside, but I can't stand Earthling sounds like a 7 year old child trying to copy a Prodigy album...

It's gorgeous. And what's more, it's something most people don't expect from the B-Man: it's simple and understated. Each time I hear the song or see the video I love it more. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Does anyone know who played young Bowie in that vid? It looks like Christian Bale with an eating disorder. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

This song has special memories to me. I bought the cassette single in London right after I had moved there and was still living in pretty dysmal conditions. I was feeling hopeless and was completely out of money, hardly could afford to eat. I'd listen to the song in my walkman in the rain, and I haven't forgot the feeling since.
I am not saying the song cheered me up or anything.
