It's interesting that Janet specifically said she gaind all that weight for 'Tennessee'. Mariah is shooting 'Tennessee' now in that role and I dont think she gained weight for it. hmmmm

As someone who's been up and down in weight..I can understand the shame that comes with gaining weight but she should have just said the truth..her career was at a standstill, her family name was once again being dragged through the mud with the whole MJ trial...she just let go of herself. That would've been more believable...anyway..just a thought after seeing a recent pic of MC on the movie set (which I am looking for to post!)

Yeah unless Mariah got them to change their mind, Mariahs weight does go up and down alot as she has even said but i dont think Janets had anything to do with this.

The part could've read for a larger woman...but to ask someone to gain 60 pounds for it????? I know actors have gained/lost alot of weight for roles (and rolls!) but 60 is too much to put someone thru...hire an actor of that weight...put Mo'nique's ass in the film.

They changed the script .Mariah's charater is different. she plays a wanna be conutry star than suddenly her brohter gets' sick and she goes searching for their estrange father. lol you really think Lee had Janet cast as country singer and duet with willie Neilson ,like Mariah .
Janet was supposed a southern mother looking for her childeren's father or something like that.

Janet always tries to do publicity stunts

I never believed she her weight gain excuse. She was heavy way before filming was ever scheduled and as long as I can remember this movie has been about a waitress and those two boys. Janets name was never attached to the project until she started doing promos for 20YO. I still never heard anything from Daniels or his film colleagues about Janet being in the film.

Never could understand why someone with weight issues would put weight on for a movie role anyway. Especially 60lbs. There are plenty of women who are better actresses than Janet who are already full-figured and can sing. Why get someone who has issues in both areas?

I knew about the movie way before 20 YO promo, like as early as december 2005, but she had gained a lot of weight months before that and it was obviously from stress from mj's trial and dealing with bad publicity. Also when you're comfortable in a relationship, you tend to not care about how you look at one point and wear whatever you want and eat whatever you want and that makes you gain weight. At least that was the case with my cousin a few years ago when she was with a guy
