Starpulse: Michael Jackson Calls On Akon's Help For Chart Comeback

Michael Jackson Calls On Akon's Help For Chart Comeback

Michael Jackson is looking towards the top of the U.S. charts as he plans a major comeback - he's asked R&B star Akon to help him return to the top. Jackson has been working extensively with The Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am on his comeback album and now he's planning a meeting with Senegalese star Akon, who currently holds America's number one spot with Don't Matter and features on Gwen Stefani's number two hit The Sweet Escape.

The pair were supposed to meet up in Las Vegas last week but previous commitments Akon had made to his charity foundation for African kids forced the R&B star to call off his date with the King Of Pop.

Akon is now hoping to meet with Jackson before the end of April - and he already has big plans for the superstar's comeback.

He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I'm excited because I think it's gonna be magic when we get together.

"All the stuff that he's going through, that he's been through the past two years, the stuff that's been out in the media... the stuff that hasn't been out, I think he needs to just take all that (and) put it in his records. It's a big story.

"Nobody's ever really heard Mike's story... If he takes that and accepts what's been out there and expresses his opinion, express his feelings, express what he felt on a record I think it'd take his whole album to a whole 'nother level because the album now becomes a soundtrack of his life from that point to this point and that's something people are gonna want to know about."

Oh please dont is all i can say. As i have said before Michael needs to focus on doing a solid 10 track 45 minute record, something fresh but not "current", my fear is this is going to be nothing but alot of guest raps and hooks and soundbytes.

will.i.am said in interviews he wants michael not to compete with todays minimalism music. and michael just wants great melodies rythms that makes people want to dance and songs that touch people emotional
and will.i.am wants it to be like a off the wall for this milenium , all that sounds great though but im not sure if he must put his opinion in to his songs he did it on history and it was quite bitter. i wouldnt want it to be like that. on the other hand a lil autobiographic touch makes a song quite intresting
i liked history but he did that and i dont want to have a album where you can hear him bleed all over the record.

I fear this too...

that every song will be MICHAEL JACKSON featuring Guest Rapper1, Guest Rapper 2

that would not be a good idea...he should just work with one person and organically come up with something focused and consistent...not a mixed bag of overused tricks and samples...

peace

Why is it that everyone has to have a million people "guesting" on their cd now a days? Whatever happened to just having a band and making your own shit? M.J.'s trying to get all these people, it's the most idiotic thing. It's like everything nowadays is "so and so (feat. G.notalent and his granma)." Gimme a freakin' break! Can't MJ sing? What da hell does he need Akon for? That guy is just the no-talent flavor of the month. You don't see Prince reaching out to Akon (lmao)...Just needed to vent a little, the state of most music today just sickens me.

Its just crazy, i mean hes closing in on 50 and hes concerned with a chart position, when that is what is driving your creation or your producers than theres the issue. Its not going to be a Michael Jackson record, its going to be more of a checklist of whos hot at the moment throwing down some hooks on his tracks. I mean thats alright to do if you make an album a year, look at Elton John hes 60 and he has a regular cd where its him and piano another best of and is now doing this hip hop/dance record. But in Michaels case this just seems so forced, get out there and be a leader, dont ride on others success.

UGH! god i hope his not true!!

I mean somebody really needs to sit down Michael Jackson and just start stroking his ego! The BEST stuff of his career is when he signs, writes, composes, and produces his own music. He's a musicail genius! he's just doesn't know it!

Double word..his album's tracklisting is gonna look like Mariah's with all the guest 'artists'

The same can be said about Whitney...I am so excited for her to comeback and Clive Davis promised a 'WHITNEY' album and she will not chase trends...but I just saw that she's using every producer under the sun...Akon, Kanye, DJ Premire, a ton others I cant remember..

MJ should use one and FOCUS (Whitney too...)

i'm with you guys! i can't understand why someone as talented as mj doesn't have enough belief in his own capabilities as an artist. i think he realizes that after all the trouble he's been in, he needs someone "current" to help him get back out that and make him fel relevant again. Acorn (yes, i said Acorn), imo has no talent. why him of all people? why not quincy jones again? now that could be hot!
