Your Top 10 Fav Songs EVER

snowflake

yes, it's that time again. top 10 lists biggrin

without considering what's "hip" or "cool" or "responsible",
just tell us what the first 10 songs are that you think of,
when asked 'what's your 10 fav songs ever?'

so don't think about it too long and too hard, just go with
your gut feeling. the first 10 songs you think of when you
go "that's my ultimate fav tune!"

one condition: only 1 song per group/artist smile

tricky: poems
prince: if i was your girlfriend
tori amos: purple people
david bowie: ashes to ashes
bjork: all is full of love
new order: true faith
neil young: after the goldrush
radiohead: let down
eurythmics: savage
joni mitchell: the last time i saw richard

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

i really like your list, except for the neil young and joni mitchell songs, and that's only because i don't know them. it's weird, i liked neil young's latest few albums a lot, but i can't get into his classic stuff. it gets on my nerves. i think i'll like it as i get older, if that makes sense.

i like the boney m version of "heart of gold". lol

i don't know what my top ten songs are. my favorite song of all time is mama cass's version of "dream a little dream of me". that's a constant. cloud9

I know I am going to HATE this list tomorrow lol but here ya go:

Off the top of my head...

1. Prince - The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker
2. Kate Bush - The Sensual World
3. David Bowie - DJ
4. Bryan Ferry - Windswept
5. Talking Heads - Houses In Motion
6. Stevie Wonder - Send One Your Love
7. The B-52s - Dry County
8. Dusty Springfield - Nothing Has Been Proved
9. Michael Jackson - Remember The Time
10 Diana Ross - Upside Down

Okay, I'm annoyed with this list already. lol And some of those are dreadful choices ('Send One Your Love' the best Stevie can come up with??? No way) but you asked for my favourites.... at this moment in time.

The only ones I can say are unlikely to change are no's 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 & 10. Maybe number 9. (And some of those I don't think are their best efforts either, they're just my favourites).

And where's Madonna? Pet Shop Boys? George Michael? Etc etc etc... Okay, this is winding me up now. disbelief

You are evil, Lars. lol hug

Donna Summer / I Feel Love (12" version) (1977)

PRODUCED BY GIORGIO MORODER. BLACK FEMALE CHURCH VOCALIST + STATE-OF-THE-ART EUROPEAN ELECTRONICS = THE ULTIMATE ORGASM. I FEEL LIKE I'M DEAD WHEN THIS SONG COMES ON IN A CLUB. I'M COMPLETELY OUT OF MY BODY AND DEAD. I FEEL LIGHTHEADED, TEARY-EYED, OVERJOYED, OVERCOME AND ORGASMIC. I WISH YOU COULD FEEL HOW THIS SONG IS IN MY BRAIN. SO SIMPLE YET SO DEADLY. THIS SONG IS MY LIFE AND MY ULTIMATE DEATH. AND IS SO PERFECT IT'S PERPETUALLY ON SOME NEXT SHIT.

I really, really tried to formulate my "Top 10 fave songs EVER" -- spent a few hours mulling about it. But the whole concept of "EVER" particularly fucks with my head -- preventing me from making a list that I could stand behind, knowing that so much great music is out there and still being discovered. Please accept this one song, though, as a small, not-entirely-comprehensive glimpse into that hard to compile list. [...ah, my brain feels much better now.]

The closest I ever got to making a list like this was naming Top 5 Perfect Beats:

Audio Two - Top Billin'
Run DMC - Sucker MCs
Schoolly D - PSK (What Does It Mean)
Kraftwerk - Numbers
EPMD - You're A Customer

I made that list 2 years ago. Funny thing is, when I heard Pete Rock play a DJ set this month, those songs were of the very few 80s selections he chose.
