I have finally seen the movie "Idlewild". So because my studio session on Sunday was cancelled, I decided to stay in and order a movie from pay-per-view. I decided to order "Idlewild" because I've been wanting to see that since it came out in theaters. But I never got the chance to since I was always busy and stuff.
It's a given that I love Outkast. I think they're one of the best Rap duos of all time and I had expected this film that they've been working on for so long to be a blast. It's nothing too Oscar-worthy, but it's a cool, fun, and entertaining to watch. The music is great and it fits in well with the storyline. Also it's great to see Dre and Big Boi together. Even their characters are 2 different people, but that dynamic totally works. Also, I heard a complaing that Bryan Barber made this movie in the way he would make his music videos. He used different cut-and-paste techiniques in the cinematography as well as special effects and whatever. But I thought it worked, especially since this was a vibrant and colorful musical anyway. Big Boi is actually a very good actor too and he probably had the best role. Terence Howard was also great too as the villain out to take over Big Boi's character's business. I heard "Idlewild" only got mediocre reviews, but if you like the music of Outkast and don't mind a flick that combines romance, comedy, drama, action, and a bit of tragedy, then I'd strongly recommend this movie. Yeah, so perhaps it's done in a music video style, but it's good nonetheless. Would you object to that? NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I believe it's called "Movin' Cool". But for some reason that song doesn't appear on the soundtrack. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

The Org seemed to hate this flick. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

well yeah i most definitely loved the speakerboxxx/love below album better than the "Idlewild" one, but then when they used the songs from the speakerboxx album there really wasn't a point to release the album "idlewild" now was there??? I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Well I think that was because Outkast had planned the movie even back in the days of Speakerboxxx/Love Below. They had been talking about the project for a while and it finally went into production after the album was done. And I believe some of the songs on both Dre and Big Boi's albums were inspired by the movie. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I hated the dailies from this flick but the final released version was fairly good. I would give up a thumbs up.

I enjoyed Idlewild too. It was a little slow at some points, but it was something different. My only problem was that there was really no rip-roaring, gut-busting, killer song and dance/music number. The first one with Big Boi came close but after that...eh. I'm afraid of Americans. I'm afraid of the world.
