What The FUNK is wrong with George Michael? Somehow, between the numerous reports of him falling asleep on the road, I missed this news last year...

Nothing wrong with him. Saw him live twice last year, from the front row, as he's in great shape.
He says he never met that guy and said he would be suing the paper.

He says he never met that guy and said he would be suing the paper. Don't most say they never met the person and then threaten to sue? He may be in great shape on stage but it's obvious he has some personal issues... [Edited 3/17/07 19:39pm]

What's wrong with GM??
He's the man! That's what "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

i love George Michael, so hopefully any demons he has, maybe he can learn to deal with them in a more positive way. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I just don't get it... If I had as much money as he does, I wouldn't spend my life being so high that I had to lay on the floor of the recording studio to sing and fell asleep in the car waiting for street lights to change, or venturing into public parks for strange ass.
Hell, he could hire the entire cast of a Falcon video to come to his house if it came down to that. It was unfortunate when this stuff was going on a decade ago but now it just seems a little sad. I'd say it's done more to harm his career than Sony ever did, which is a shame because I love his voice. [Edited 3/17/07 20:39pm]

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I never said that having money would eliminate personal problems and I don't think the money *itself* is a great consideration, either way. Certainly, it's not a cure-all BUT having it does open doors to dealing with your issues in ways that you might not have otherwise. Even if it's just to give you the ability to be more discreet about things. The press is really beside the issue. They didn't cause it, they just document it.

Well, GM freely admits to cruising but he does protest over this story - though, he seems to protest more over the specific guy and not that he wasn't doing anything that night. 6 months later and he hasn't sued, though... ...and did GM and Kenny ever get married?

I'm just wondering will he be able to sell-out those stadium gigs he has scheduled for this year. Maybe a 10,000 capacity venue, but I'm just a bit sceptic about him being able to pull together 30-40,000 people each night.
What the fuck am I talking about? Of course he can, as companies these days buy all the tickets whenever any kind of an event is held at a stadium - doesn't matter if its' dog show or a Marilyn Manson tribute concert performed by handicapped children.

But think about how a poor person could say the same thing about a middle-class person: "If I had their money, I wouldn't have any problems..." It's all relative. Issues are issues.

The man's a fucking idiot. He was ranting on the news a while back about how cottaging and picking guys up on Hampstead Heath at night is "an important part of gay culture", and anybody who's got a problem with it is "homophobic".
Sorry, mate, but homosexuality's been legal in this country for nearly half a century now - you don't need to do that stuff any more.

Actually, a truly poor person WOULD have quite a few LESS problems in general if they had more money so that's a bad comparison. Nobody said money automatically erases all ills but it's ludicrous to say it can't help with some... and I'm sorry but being a millionaire with a hundred other avenues at your disposal and still cruising for tricks at 3 am in the bushes of a public park is really, really sad. That is a particular situation that doesn't need to happen even if you're poor but is just creepy if you're a man of means. You could just stock your own country villa with attractive safe men, for a start.

Excuse me but that isn't the case with George Michael. He's all over the paper/TV talking about cruising being perfectly fine, nothing wrong with it, Kenny doesn't mind, etc, etc... quite often over the years. He obviously doesn't look at his troubles as being a 'mistake' or he wouldn't keep up the oddball behavior. If I was going to spend my evenings at sex parties with a trunk full of sex toys and getting so high I would frequently fall asleep on the way home, and I was full of money, I just might have the sense to hire a driver.

I was talking about the issues that still plague middle-class folks, too: substance abuse, domestic abuse, high-risk sexual behavior, etc. The fact that these problems occur at all economic levels suggests to me a human condition instead of an economic one.

The man loves the attention - as I said in my earlier post, there's no actual need for cruising or cottaging any more now that homosexuality's legal.

Feel free to move along if you don't wish to comment further but it kind of looks silly to put it off on me. I've been very consistent with my point. I'm talking specifically about GM's off the wall behavior and lame justification and you're talking in random generalities that don't necessarily apply to him. He certainly doesn't look at his trouble causing antics as a mistake.

Exactly... Someone as famous as GM has no room to engage in such antics in public areas and then get all bent out of shape because he's recognized and it becomes news. He has the means to deal with those 'tastes' in other ways so there must be some attention seeking going on.
