Humility is also a quality he shares with one of my favorite of his latter day disciples Shawn Lane, who has probably already been mentioned but to me definitely qualifies as an underrated one. I'll repost the clip of those two chatting I found on youtube http://www.youtube.com/wa...LGoYBSE6Gk Welcome to Allan & Shawn's Talk. I've got some vintage Shawn Lane that a friend of mine sent me (they played together in Black Oak Arkansas). One of my favorite Shawn Lane pieces is something the lovely anon turned me on to... ...the title track from the Personae album w/Jonas Hellborg. Great cover too. A live version of it used to be up on YouTube luckily I saved it. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. That's for the information. steve4key said: The Edge of U2 (for rythmic values) The Edge is definitely underrated. Not because he can play like jimi or eddie, but because he nearly singlehandedly creates the sound that U2 is associated with. Bono creates the message, but Edge creates the soundscape. It's pretty distinct, and hell, they're one of the most successful and respected bands ever. My Legacy

i'll second john frusciante...one listen to stadium arcadium seals it for me.
and add: dean ween. his soloes are a bit sloppy at times, but his ability is tremendous, rivalling eddie hazel, at least. and dan auerbach (sp?) of the black keys. holy crap, you gotta see this guy play to even get a sense of the amount of sound one man can get out of a guitar.

He's not doing anything earthshattering, but he's capable of great beauty in many different forms My Legacy

true, but that great beauty is frequent and distinctive... and while i'm seconding, i'll vouch for johnny marr as well. if he could've stayed with one band his whole career, i have a feeling alot of people would be saying "edge who?" in fact, i'm listening to modest mouse's we were dead before the ship even sank as i type. wonderful work from marr, shining without diverting from their sound one bit. i hope their relationship lasts at least a couple of albums.

I myself am a pretty great yet tragically underrated guitarist.

I'd say me. While I'm not particularly good, I can play a bit a least, but NO ONE in this world knows.

I especially like their highly indian inflected stuff (some of which is basically pure raga music played on western instruments) like Icon and Good People In Times Of Evil.

DEAN WEEN>>> GREAT PICK>>>>>
2 songs I think showcase his eddie Hazel spririt. Obviously A tear for eddie, I just love a few minutes in when he steps on the noisy phaser. and Buckingham Green Music is the best...
