Credit where Credit is Due....Emilio Estefan is one of the best Producers of the last 25 years Yes thats right. Im sure most people just think he's Gloria's husband, but even before Miami Sound Machine broke through he was creating in the very late 70's and early 80's. Emilio is responsible for Latin Music getting its due in the states and the reason its the fastest growing genre of music. Emilio has produced the likes of Shakira,Ricky Martin,Marc Anthony,Alejandro Sanz,Paulina Rubio,Thalia,Gloria Estefan,Miami sound Machine and many more. One thing about Emilio is he has kept the music LIVE which is why like it or not to me Latin Music gets the most respect from me, where as RB which used to be all about LIVE music, today is not about that anymore, its about beats, which is where the title "beatmaker" comes from, because that is what you are doing. Its funny how people always take notice with a Latin artist doing an Englsih cd, but no one says anything when Pop artists do spanish records, artists like Boyz II men, Beyonce now has cut a spanish EP, and all through the 80's everyone from Sheena Easton to Barry Manilow recorded in spanish, so lets kill that double standard too. [Edited 3/28/07 10:26am] It just bugs me when i hear so many of "todays" producers given legendary status for really doing nothing more than creating beats for artists who are already famous, while Emilio has brought out the best in everyone he has worked with. To me he is on level of importance with great legends like GeorgeMartin and Arif Mardin. That's the case of the Pharrells and Timbalands of this world. Real producers don't whore their image like these dudes do [Edited 3/28/07 10:33am] | |

Emilio is a brilliant!!! he appears on almost every other Latin album i have. LOL Madonna was planning on working with Emilio on a couple projects including the "Evita" sdtrk. There was a entertainment news bit about a month ago, about the Ritchies and the Estefans getting together for dinner. i would've loved to have attended that dinner.
