What's the opinion of the org about Diana Ross?

I'm getting into her...loved those supremes singles (Love Child is my favorite) and I'm now putting the "diana" album on my mp3 player (together with Amy Winehouse, MIKA, Rick James, TTD and Madonna)...

Opinions people?

I think Diana has a great voice and has made a few decent movies, but her personality and diva attitude really turn me off.

Can you tell me more about Diana's personality and diva attitude? I been wondering why she's so hated.

She's a bit too "breathy" for my tastes. For similar reasons, I guess that's why I abandoned Janet Jackson after "janet" came out. Both have moments of greatness, don't get me wrong, but whenever I see a powerful black woman sing -- I expect her to be able to SANG, you know? She's beautiful and ageless tho...

I dig her. Recently got into her stuff although I do have her most recent studio albums and they aren't very strong. They are all very similar. But damn a lot of her hits are great. Recently heard "Mirorr, Miroor" the other day on a Top 40 countdown recently and it was really cool to hear. Very funky!

I actually like her versions of "Good morning Heartache", "God Bless the Child" and "My Love is here to stay". One of my personal favourites of her is "Friend to Friend". It had such an effect on me.

Beautiful song, and there was something different about her voice on that particular track, it sounded deeper....

Just out of interest, have you ever met/ran into her Supa? I know you work in the record industry, if not her company.

In other words, dish the dirt. razz

In answer to your question, Miguel, I think she's a complete hands-down legend. worship

For a start, there's The Supremes' back catalogue. Full of masterpieces.

Then there's her solo career. A bit more patchy - and you have to tread carefully, especially with anything from the 1980s onwards (with the exception of 'Diana', possibly her finest album).

Okay, she may be known for possessing certain 'demanding' qualities whistling but that's what got her so far in this business and why people still know who the hell she is today. I think they used to call it 'star quality'. sexy

Anyway, enjoy the search and I hope you like what you find! hug

Back when I was in pre-school, we had one of those viewmaster thingies that the kids were passing around. The teachers wanted everyone to name the animal that you saw in the viewmaster. When it was passed to me I saw a picture of an orangutang. The teacher asked me to identify the animal. Either it was a Freudian slip or I just didn't know what to tell her, I just said "Diana Ross".

She's a legendary entertainer who has recorded some fantastic music (the Supremes' stuff and her solo debut are my favorite), but the way some of her fans ignore all the awful stories about her and instead prefer to bash the people in the industry who reported all the dirt annoys me.

LOVE the supremes stuff, get a bit annoyed by her ego.

i got really annoyed when a couple of years back she announced a supremes reunion tour, then showed up with new supremes.

Speaking of Diana, I've been listening to her song "Love Hangover", since I was talking about this song with another orger on another thread. Does anybody love this song as much as I do?
