Becks Sea Change I'm thoroughly taken with this album.
Does anyone have any details about this album? It's far removed from his other albums.

do you have the regular version or the japanese one? becaues i think
only the japanese version contains the track "Ship In A Bottle". that's such a cool track, i had that on repeat for days when i first found it. but indeed, that album is absolutely great. so warm and autumnal and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

It's my second favorite Beck album after Guero...it's one of those albums that you can put on your cd player and everyone of all ages and musical taste will like.

I think the album is so huge. I can't play it often because I find it so moving. I'd never had thought Beck would b capable of this depth.

Me too! I adore Sea Change, but nothing - in my opinion - can touch "Broken Drum," "Go It Alone," or "E-Pro." I LOVE Guero!! Along with Odelay, these are the only Beck albums I own. Should I purchase the others?? Thoughts? Opinions? Thanks! "She made me glad to be a man"

Try to download "Debra" from Midnite vultures...it sticks so much of Prince...so yummy! But if you want a real Beck fan, slkdawn is the one to provide advice about future purchases! One of the best albums ever made.
All I know is that the record was about by his break-up with his longtime girlfriend (whom he had caught cheating on him), even if Beck himself denied such direct references to any actual life-situations. It's hard not to challenge that notion when you take a look at the lyrics. He had been intending to come up with a funkier follow-up to "Midnite Vultures", but changed his mind and came up with "Sea Change" instead.

I'm glad he didn't try another vulture album.

It was the first beck album that got my attention...I played it to death when it was released... Me too. Only much later on I realized it was not that terribly good. A lot of people have apparently arrived at the same conclusion though, I guess it's just the changing times and how we relate to irony during different historic phases. ... or something.

One of my fav albums of all time.
If you have a universal dvd player buy the high rez version on dvd-audio or sacd. I like the dvd-audio better cause it has the videos and cool stills. The dvd-audio will play on regular players at a reg 48khz resolution but you will be able to hear it in surround if you have a 5.1 rcvr/speakers Mixed in 5.1 96khz by Elliot Schiener(Steely Dan). If this came with every dvd player everyone would be a 5.1 music convert. The discrete sounds plus the overall instrumentation make this a top surround release. Although my wife calls it the depressed album I listen to this anytime I want to show how perfect a recording can be. The songs are so well written it totally surprised me enough that I now buy anything he puts out because he earned it. Music is the best...

I mean, I didn't know it, but it sounded very Sea Change-ish to me, and I was completely drawn to that song upon first listen. But after awhile, "Go It Alone" became my favorite from the album. "Lost Cause" is still the track I enjoy most of his, but I must say, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked Guero! Thanks for the info!! "She made me glad to be a man"
