Jane's Addiction

A great, talented band that broke boundaries in rock. Unclassifiable. Anyone else here like Jane's (or Porno for Pyros, Deconstruction, RHCP, Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro)?

Plus, they have a new album coming out soon (I heard they're recording).

Along with Queens Of The Stone age Janes Addiction are the best rock band of the last 15 years. They take everything that was good about '70s rock ..ie Sabbath and Zeppelin and add loads of punk attitude. Im gonna see Jane's this month at the Reading festival..i can't wait.

I have to say that the Dave Navarro solo album has really grown on me. I'm really critical of it - it's not awe-inspiring - but totally addictive. If you're starved for some 90's-flavored rock with modern touches, pick it up. Try downloading "Hungry" first, it's the best track.

yes, yes and yes! perry farrell is a completely individualistic wacko visionary... and socially relevant at the same time (nothing's shocking... the porno for pyros project... i love "black girlfriend," especially)

"ted, just admit it" is one of the truest, most stunning rock songs ever created.

Actually, I'm not a big fan of the band. It's still too...well, Californian to me. Don't want to take the pleasure from anybody else likes the band though.

And I was always shocked when Navarro joined the Red Hot Chilly Willies. Dave Navarro? And The Pepzoids?!? Don't think he even liked the band.

Damn, people. I'm listening to it now, that live Lolla version from "Kettle Whistle." FYI, if you like forums, http://www.JanesAddiction.org just reset their server or something, so everybody had to re-register. I got in on the ground floor, registering like three days after the admin. It's neat.

I love the RHCP album with Dave, by the way (pun intended). It's my second fave after BSSM.

OK. I LOVE Janes Addiction. I love Perry Farrel. They were one of the first bands that I truly felt that I identified with. Thank God I'm not the only one who does. I have seen them twice. Once in 1990, at First Avenue...which was probably one of the most amazing music moments in my life. Then I saw them just this past November, and it was awesome too.
Gift. Need I say more???

I have not seen a copy of Gift in a store ever. I did get to watch it, though. I borrowed it from a friend in college. I remember so little, only the part where Perry finds Casey, really. That, and the band playing "Three Days" in the studio, but I think that was the album version.

You mean, you dont remember the part where Perry decides, after he has found Casey dead, that he going to have sex one last time with her? In the shower? While shes dead?? biggrin lol Or the part after that, where he makes her up sooo beautiful, and then lays her in her bed, and surrounds her with dried flower petals and such?? awww soo sweet redface
I NEED to find a copy of that movie. FOR REAL.

No, really, it was in college and I don't remember a lot of that. Keep your eyes open...I was able to find "Soul Kiss," though.

I lost interest after the Porno for Pyros album... it didnt do much for me. But the Janes Addiction LPs were amazing... that guy has a beautiful voice and writes lyrics that show more understanding of the subtleties of life and love than Prince's ever will. The last JA album will forever be one of my favourites of all time.

Yeah, I've got Soul Kiss. And thats great too smile I'll tell ya...Last November Janes came to Minneapolis, and I went to the show ( which was a amazing...I felt like I was 15 again wink ) but afterwards Perry was spinning records at what used to be Glam Slam. ( Now called the Quest ) I was really enjoying the music he was selecting, however, he leaves much to be desired as a dj. Or maybe he just needs more practice wink Was cool all the same, just to see him right there, on the stage playing records smile

three days still kills me everytime

"erotic jesus BAM BAM BAM BAM lives with his marys BAM BAM BAM BAM loves his marys BAM BAM BAM BAM bits of puzzle BAM BAM BAM BAM fitting each other...ALL NOW WITH WINGS"

damn damn damn you just can't fuck with that. i've got gift on video ... that's one fucked up movie. it was a bummer that she died, and he got arrested at the end. i was kinda pissed that i had to wait for the credits to roll to see the ice-t duet ... i remember when they did that at lollapalooza waaay back in the day and motherfuckers almost rioted ... it was a moment.

i will be first in line to get their new album if they are infact putting one out, ever.

and yes, ted just admit it is amazing.

One of y top 3 fav bands of all time.

Everything I created musically for a while, I compared to Jane's Addiction to see if it was good enough.

They were my highest standard.

Part of the soundtrack 2 my life...the drugged years...

I love Jane's Addiction!

They are one of the all-time greats in my book. All of their albums rock, and "Then She Did" is (usually) my favorite song of all time.

I saw them at 1st Avenue in 1990 (yaay for us, Vi!) and it remains one of the best shows that I've ever seen.

Their recent tour was amazing as well. Perry's right on top of things. The DJ they had spinning between bands was kicking out some sweet techno to keep the energy high, and Jane's (of course) kicked ass. Perry's DJ gig after was also quite cool to see...

I saw a copy of The Gift at Strawberries not too long ago. I love it when Casey tells Nadene to hang on so she can use the telephone cord to shoot up... classic! And Miss Kiki beating the shit out of the manager for eating a lobster. lol

I caught Janes last year at Worcester Centrum, one of the best shows I've been to.

I love the old Jane's Addiction... After "Nothing's Shocking" I lost interest. It's disappointing to me that the majority of people didn't even know of them until they put out that shitty song "Been Caught Stealing". Sad really.

I absolutely love "I Would For You", "Ted, Just Admit It", "Jane Says", "1%", "Pig's In Zen" ... Perry rocks!

I wasn't into PFP, but I really like RHCP, pre "Californication" anyway... smile

Hoka hey, I just remembered that part where the woman is getting an exam from her OB/GYN, and Perry and Casey show up, and the doctor leaves her on the table with the speculum stuck all the way open (I think). Classic moments in home video history!

Thanks for reminding me of that phone cord thing. I'll slip that into the overheads at church.

lol He's cranking it open and she keeps saying "Oww" and then he tells her to quit being a baby! Then Perry and Casey get about 50 scripts for all their "aches and pains" while trying to get off dope. Meanwhile the poor girl is still on the table opened WIDE.

I have to watch this again soon...
