Just read this at Africana.com

Queen Latifah is about to relaunch her record label "Flava Unit." Artists signed to her label will automatically recieve 50% of all money made from their work, AND they will be the sole owners of their masters!!

Looks like Prince's dream of fairness for artists is taking root. I'm sure that her label will take off because of this. She'll also probably get some of the best artists out there on her label as well.

Thanks for the non-combative response. I didn't know Cash Money was like that too. I guess I prejudged them by the type of music they make.

well i read this in the source magazine they said that the deal with universal they made ...they were able to keep the master recordings...

I Might not be crazy with the direction Rap&Hip-Hop has taken over the years but the Business Savvy is in Full Effect.Queen Latifah has always been on the Ball when it came to Business.

Time will tell...she doesn't strike me as someone who would give people the shaft out of greed; so hopefully, 4 the artists' sake, the business end works out 4 the best. If so, much RESPECT.

Maybe I am mistaken, but when I saw Queen Latifah on 106th and Park, I thought she said that the acts on her label own half of the rights to their masters. Maybe I am incorrect, but that's what I thought I heard her say.
