Do you realize this sentence in and of itself is worthy of its own thread? But I digress.

If I were MJ I'd have done the Victory tour as well. He allowed his family to cash in on his success, even if it pained him to do it. That's looking out for your family. And to this day, people speak fondly of that tour, and it ended up enlarging his popularity, IMHO. Kudos to him for that.

Imagine Madonna opening up for MJ! 2 icons for the price of one.

It would have made sense. She was a new artist at the time, and she and Michael had the same manager. The two of them on a big tour in 1984 would have been amazing.

Freddy had all right quit working with Michael when he became Madonna's manger.

The Victory Tour was already the biggest tour of all time up to that time.

True, but there were still many problems. They were supporting a weak album ('Victory') and most people think of that tour as "charity" on Michael's part.He was just doing it to help out his brothers, who were nearly broke.

Imagine if,in late 1983/84,Michael had done his own tour in support of 'Thriller'.That would have been much more successful and more exciting.

The way he ended the tour on stage in the middle of Shake Your Body without telling his brothers is priceless

here it is...

It is said this was a surprise for the family. Maybe it was but they don't show any emotions so maybe they just keep their faces or perhaps they knew it beforhand.

I think it's because Jermaine wasn't on the Destiny and Triumph albums and tours. And he wasn't part of the Jackson's variety show. In 1976, 77 and 78, the Jacksons (without Jermaine) performed together so much. They probably feel like they did more than enough performing together in those few years to last a life-time. But Jermaine was left out of all that, and I supposed he hasn't felt like a Jackson (the band, no the family) in a number of years (since 1976) despite the Victory album and tour which was a huge bomb anyway.

hmmm speaking of the 'Victory' tour...I think MJ made a huge mistake by doing it.In 1983/84,he should have went on his own "Thriller World Tour".It would have been the biggest tour ever!! He missed a golden opportunity.

Michael always was better with his brothers anyway;
He always sang 100 % live (in concerts), he improvised more, interacted with the audience more, seemed more comfortable with his brothers around him, and the setlist was more funk/RnB.

Jackson never really listened to Elvis as far as I can remember.

Quote from his auto-biography (Moonwalk):
"As important as he was to music, black as well as white, he just wasn't an influence on me. I guess he was too early for me. Maybe it was timing more than anything else. By the time our song had come out, people thought that if I kept living in seclusion the way I was, I might die the way he did. The parallels aren't there as far as I'm concerned and I was never much for scare tactics. Still, the way Elvis destroyed himself interests me, because I don't ever want to walk those grounds myself."

So no, he wasn't much of an Elvis fan.

god its sooo depressing to read that now all things considered

OMG! Where do I begin? Why here of course...spit falloff lol

Hell to the naw they didn't know what was coming! When Mike exited the stage the first time...whoever that is on the guitar looked back like..."Umm, where you going?"

It looked to me like Mike got pissed because there were not enough cheers and screams during his moonwalking, crotch-grabbing solo so he just walked off! Still priceless though! evillol

What the hell was up with Mike and ripping the shirt off of his brother? Soooo not sexy!! That's just rather disturbing now after all that has transpired over the last few years! disbelief

Now for the good news...

I don't see this Jacksons "Reunion In Vegas" happening at all...because...

Hell, they looked old and tired doing that shit 20 something odd years ago...who the hell wants to see some gray old Jacksons "Shaking their bodies...their old ass bodies?" eek

He was pissed the ENITRE tour lol The whole ticket fiasco that he got all the flack for when it wasn't his fault, wanting Janet to be the opening act but the others were against it. They also wanted to do a european tour and Michael wasn't having that shit. The thing was a huge clusterfuck

the only one that looked tired IMO was Jackie (probably due to leg injury after he got hit by a car driven by his former wife for cheating with a young Paula Abdul according to the rumour), but he really didn't participate in the tour only made an entrance in this last show.

As for the Jacksons age they still showed lots of energy during MSG a few years back. In my point of view they all seemed to have more energy than Michael sadly. Jermaine sounded as great as ever and played the bass well, Marlon and Jackie kicked ass and Randy and Tito looked inspired. On the other hand it would have been real odd if they did not give there heart considering it was there first real performance for years.
