Yeah,I remember seeing this episode in early '83.I also recall the interview where Vanity lied about Prince helping them with their album."He was too busy working on his own album",she told Don Cornelius She also mentioned that they would soon be on tour with Prince and The Time."777-9311....that's our number if you wanna reach us",she said, cryptically. They came back and performed "He's So Dull".

Or was that the time that Vanity came on as a solo artist and did "Pretty Mess"? Hell, it was one of the times she was on there. Andy is a four letter word.

Actually, that was Sheila E she appeared on the show in 1985 singing "Sister Fate" and "Love Bizarre".During the interview,Don told Sheila that if Prince ever came on the show,he was going to interview him. It's kinda sad that Prince didn't appear on the show until 1994.By then,Soul Train had become a joke.

The only good thing on that episode was Prince and even his performances were weak. Andy is a four letter word.

I remember being really excited about that performance. It was the first time I had heard songs like "Acknowledge Me" and "Now" It's too bad that,in those days,he was going around with that ridiculous Liza Minnelli hairdo.

That's the first time I had heard those songs also. I found them decent but not really something to be exited about. All my exitement was previous to the show wondering what he was going to perform.....only to hear him strip down and ruin a perfectly good song like "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" and perform a shit hop sounding version of it on the show. "319", "Pussy Control", and "Eye Hate U" would have been better song choices that year. When it comes to Prince on "Soul Train", the best would have been if he had been on there during the "Dirty Mind", "Controversy", and "1999" era. Prince was at his strongest and best during these eras and "Soul Train" was still a great show during that time. By 1994, both of them had fell off. Andy is a four letter word.

He should have been all over Soul Train in the early 80s!! The Time,Vanity 6 and Sheila E. all made appearances,so what was his excuse?? Imagine him appearing on the show in 1981 to sing "Controversy" and then "Private Joy"....the crowd would have gone nuts!

I'm sure it was probably because he knew Don Cornelius interviewed his guests and Prince didn't give interviews. On a show like "Solid Gold", he could just perform the songs and not have to say anything. Imagine him appearing on the show in 1981 to sing "Controversy" and then "Private Joy"....the crowd would have gone nuts!
I can imagine him doing "Let's Work" and the crowd screaming "work alright, we gonna work all night everybody work....that's right....everybody, everybody....work....." Andy is a four letter word.

That's true and you see how he didn't want to speak in that interview. That was a pop audience though. If he showed his ass like that on a show like "Soul Train", they would have probably started booing his ass. Andy is a four letter word.
