It ain't even that raw, folks. yeah, similar to what someone else mentioned, Kurt referred to it as having that 'Cheap Trick' sound... and I think he said Motley Crue once as well ... in any case, it came out at the tail-end of all that stuff... a nice bookend... but In Utero and Unplugged have their sound best represented I think... I think they would have just gotten better and better, like The Beatles ... I can't get enough of some of the songs on the "With The Lights Out" boxset. If anyone's interested, aspects of Kurts songwriting really influenced my own music making - see the link below.

It's polished in terms of performance & production, but the energy is raw. It's the best of both worlds, and more universal. But like I said earlier, In Utero/Unplugged is a more personal album, and maybe a better representation of who they/he were. But I think you're right. They were just starting. Their follow up to In Utero could have been better than anything that came before it. My Legacy

Oh yes Nevermind is a great album!!!!!
I was 13 when "Smells like teen spirit" came out, but at that time I was STRICTLY into gangsta rap (Ice Cube, Geto Boys, N.W.A. etc.) and wouldn't allow myself to listen to anything but...hell I was just getting into Prince then. A few years later my musical tastes changed (broadened) and I started listening to all kinds of music. I discovered this album last year from a friend of mine who is a HUGE Nirvana fan. I had no idea I would like the album so much! Strangely though I read that Kurt only 'kinda' liked the album. He said he thought there were good songs on it, but it was a tad to 'polished'. He also said that 'In Utero' was more representative of Nirvana. I like In Utero, but I listen to Nevermind a whole lot more! "Smells Like Teen Spirit", ""Breed", "Polly", "Something In the Way", and "Territorial Pissings" are among my faves on this album. Damn, wonder what Kurt would be doing now. Good music makes me happy.

He definitely did say that afterwards, but I've also heard that as he was making it he was absolutely thrilled with it. I think maybe he turned against it to some extent because it made him a pop star, complete with moronic fans (not any of us, of course! ). My Legacy

TheKnowledge said: The greatest album ever.
This is an album full of passion and spirit. It is so important to so many of my generation and thankfully it's become as important too many of the next Generation and I believe will end up influencing generations to come. Kurt Cobain is surely one of the most important figures in popular music ever, and such a sad loss, We've missed out on so much without him. After hearing Nevermind I changed, my life changed. I became who I was not what others thought I should be or wanted me to be. Nirvana Kurt Cobain Grunge Check it out ...Shiny Toy Guns R gonna blowup VERY soon and bring melody back to music..you heard it here 1st! http://www.myspacecomment...theone.mp3
