Bruce and Norah tops NFL list for Super Bowl Half Time Show 2008

Post Staff Writer

February 27, 2007 -- BRUCE Springsteen is being considered for next year's Super Bowl halftime show.

Springsteen, along with Norah Jones, is at the top of the NFL's wish-list for halftime performers, according to Variety.

The NFL has snared huge names the past few years in the wake of Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction" - with Prince, the Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney performing.

Album sales for all of these performers jumped after their Super Bowl exposure, reports Variety.

Not a huge fan of either . But for a superbowl halftime show , Springsteen maybe able to pull it off , but Norah Jones ? whofarted too mellow and laid back for this event

John Mellencamp would be my pick, though Springsteen can do amazing shows, Mellencamp is better than him. I doubt Norah would do the superbowl, especially the anthem. My guess will be someone like Carrie Underwood or Katharine McPhee for that, but Mellencamp would kick ass for a halftime show and bring some Rythym to it!

that was a nicotene patch. it has since been removed. there may be a ring of sticky adhesive crust left behind, i don't know. i assume she bathes rigorously, so probably not.

I wouldn't mind hearing her do the anthem, but I don't think she could put on the kind of show they want for half time. I dig her for the most part, but I can't see her holding people's attention in the middle of a football game.

does she have the range to do the national anthem? or the ability to sing it passionately? will they rewrite it for her?

Good question. The tessitura of the Banner is enormous, and I don't know if she could pull it off without some modification. Who knows, maybe she has it in her, but is keeping it to herself.

Lets be real though, everyone that performs it re-works it too fit their range and vocal ability. Some say Billy Joels performance was "flat" but he did it his way. So we cant really judge someones "passion", im sure we feel "passion" would be judged by a "Beyonce" like screaming and super high notes and all that but its cool to hear people do it different ways, since its really a pretty "dumb lyrical" song, praising war.

No, I doubt she will. She has too much class for that. What she will do is sing live, unlike so many others that can't.

The entertainment sounds just as dull as the sport it's being performed at.

Who cares about class? Give me a classless Janet and a nipple anyday over that elevator music that Norah churns out. lol

Mellancamp better than Bruce??!!?? Are u kidding me? Man, I love Mellancamp but Bruce is in another league, especially live. I think Bruce is an excellent choice for next years SB.
