Gladys Knight is upsetting me! I've been searching online for a comprehensive greatest hits album, with good sound quality, and I am utterly frustrated. There are different ones, different release dates, different songs. I'm pissed. So far, it looks like I might go with the expensive "Anthology" even though it has some songs I do not want. Any suggestions???

FINALLY a Gladys Knight thread. I would say get everything you can get your hands on, but that`s not what you want to hear If you get "Anthology" you only get the motown hits. I have that one, but i never listen to it, bacause i think the music they made at Buddah is much better. If you prefer the motown years i would recommend "Anthology", but if you`re like me and love their 70s outputs, i would go for the 3 disc set "Collector`s edition" (also sold separately) Disc: 1 1. Midnight Train to Georgia 2. I Feel a Song (In My Heart) 3. Make Yours a Happy Home 4. One and Only 5. Come Back and Finish What You Started 6. Home Is Where the Heart Is 7. On and On 8. Money 9. Don't Say No to Me Tonight 10. Walk Softly 11. I'll Miss You 12. Once in a Lifetime Thing Disc: 2 1. I've Got to Use My Imagination 2. Going Ups and the Coming Downs 3. I Love to Feel That Feeling 4. Little Bit of Love 5. Need to Be Listen 6. I'm Coming Home Again 7. It's a Better Than Good Time 8. It's up to You (Do What You Do) 9. Nobody But You 10. Love Finds Its Own Way 11. Way We Were 12. So Sad the Song Disc: 3 1. Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me 2. Baby Don't Change Your Mind 3. Don't Burn Down the Bridge 4. Storms of Troubled Times 5. At Every End There's a Beginning 6. Sorry Doesn't Always Make It Right 7. Everybody's Got to Find a Way 8. Tenderness Is His Way 9. Where Peaceful Waters Flow 10. What If I Should Ever Need You 11. Part Time Love 12. To Make a Long Story Short A cheaper collection is "The greatest hits" (only Buddah hits), which is also good. 1 Midnight train to Georgia 2. I've got to use my imagination 3. Best thing that ever happened to me 4. So sad the song 5. Come back & finish what you've started 6. I feel a song (in my heart) 7. Love finds it's own way 8. Baby don't change your mind 9. Part time love 10. Make yours a happy home 11. Nobody but you 12. Where peaceful waters flow 13. It's a better than good time 14. The one & only 15. Home is where the heart is 16. On & on 17. Money 18. Try to remember / the way we were

The recently-released Gold is fantastic. It's two discs, but it spans her entire career. If you want all the hits in one place, it's your best bet:
Disc 1 1. Every Beat of My Heart 2. Letter Full of Tears 3. Giving Up 4. Everybody Needs Love 5. I Heard It Through the Grapevine 6. The End of Our Road 7. It Should Have Been Me 8. The Nitty Gritty 9. Friendship Train 10. You Need Love Like I Do (Don't You?) 11. If I Were Your Woman 12. I Don't Want to Do Wrong 13. Make Me the Woman That You Go Home To 14. Help Me Make It Through the Night 15. Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye) 16. Daddy Could Swear, I Declare 17. Where Peaceful Waters Flow 18. Midnight Train to Georgia 19. I've Got to Use My Imagination 20. Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me 21. I Feel a Song (In My Heart) 22. Love Finds Its Own Way Disc 2 1. On and On 2. The Way We Were/Try to Remember 3. Money 4. Part Time Love 5. Make Yours a Happy Home 6. So Sad the Song 7. Baby Don't Change Your Mind 8. Landlord 9. Save the Overtime (For Me) 10. You're Number One (In My Book) 11. Hero (Wind Beneath My Wings) 12. Send It to Me 13. Love Overboard 14. Lovin' on Next to Nothin' 15. License to Kill 16. Men 17. I agree,,,,her compilations ain't exclusive.
For me personally, I'm all set becoz I have my Gladys Knight compilation(from Rhino records) which includes my FAVE song from her 'Here I'm Again' and I have the ULTIMATE Gladys Knight & Pips album: You CANNOT have your Gladys Knight music without starting by "Claudine". Thats her finest moment.

I wish they' put out all the original albums
on cd. I can recomend the awsome livealbum from 1983. Live at the Roxy It's amazingly good. The band kicks ass and Glady's voice is sparkling. They go through their entire catalogue on this show. /peace Manki

I'm gonna have to get this compilation Contains everything I want from them, even "Landlord" The only songs missing is their mid-80s hit "I Will Fight" and the 1987 slow jam "(It's Gonna Take) All Our Love",but otherwise, this compilation is SUPERB.
