I also remember that Joseph Jackson was still business managing Janet's career at the time & he has a lot of "control" over the musical direction that he wanted her to go. I wonder if THIS is part of the reason why she never acknowledge any of the songs from the Janet Jackson or Dreamstreet album.

I've heard her use that excuse before but I don't believe it. Like so many other artists, once they crossover, they are changed forever.

Did he have some input on The Jacksons' albums such as "Triumph" and "Destiny"? Those contain some of the funkiest jams by any of the Jackson family.[/quote]

You're close. Joseph was still his sons' manager around that time. It was Joseph's idea for The Jacksons (without Jermaine) to leave Motown and signed with Epic Records so they can finally start producing/writing their own songs.cool

Maybe that's why she's stuck in the ruts she's in. She refuses to look back.

Her problem is, she's started molesting children. Except she gets her's from the juvenille detention center. lol

I love this song and all of her earlier work. What a shame that no fans or janet herself give credit for the early work. Her debut album was like a girly off the wall and her voice on it was so much better than on control and dare I say it rhythm nation

I've loved this song since I saw her perform it on "American Bandstand" years ago. I was shocked when I heard it on the radio (the college station) along with cuts from her "Dreamstreet" album.

Probably we are old after all. I mean most of us over the age of 30 remember when music was truely good, when people actually sang through out a record as oppose to partly rap. We remember when MJ was still the colour of toffee and still put out soulful/funky stuff, and when Janet was the girl from Frame who sang "Young Love". We remember when there was a genre called R&B which obviously doesn't exist anymore. We remember when every other music video was not about half naked girls shaking their booties. I guess if we can remember all that and more we are "old". lol

you guys who are 80's kids talk about.. you know what good music is.. but the 80's had some of the crappiest and cheesiest music ever.... THe 80's had some of the worst songs ever made in history... even though the music today isn't that great.. it still beats out those cheesy 80's songs...

the 70's was probably the best decade for music

I wasn't specifically talking about the 80s and cheesy videos. I was talking about the pass in general. All I know there was more diversity than there is today, where practically everything is contrived. Every other song has to have a little rap in the middle to mess it up, regardless the genre. Every other video has to have girls shaking their booties. The whole music scene is going to the dogs and many people of your age(because lets face just by many of your posts one can tell your young) doesn't even know it.
