K - OS Atlantis - Hymns for Disco, Diggin It

I really enjoyed his last two albums so I purchased this, at first I was dissapointed, but then I started listening to it again and again, and it just grew on me, especially Sunday Morning and Fly paper, this shit is like a mix between Andre 3000, Clash, Skatalites,Van Hunt, The Roots, and Bob Dylan, but with pretty unique vocals. I recommend it for all those "Hip Hop is Dead" people. It's very good.

I just reviewed it for a mag and I thought it was pretty impressive. I hear some Motown (The Rain), some The Police (Born to Run), and some Prince (Valhalla).

We need a list of this stuff. In general the org thinks hiphop is dead but loves 80s rap.

That is his current library. Also checkout this thread....

K-Os is a great artist that is growing with each album.

Exit is the rawest sounding of the bunch, but is still a great album. There are several tunes on this album that can't be missed.

Joyful Rebellion is simply a classic genre bending album and a great intro for Atlantis.

Atlantis is a great progression from JR as all his albums seem to take a big step forward from the prior.

Publicity Stunt has a nice collection of his videos and some portions of a live show he did in Canada.

If you are interested in K-Os, you gotta check out all his albums. Each one stands on its own and offers a very impressive library for only three albums. He really does not have a bad song.

In my opinion, K-Os should be a bonafide super-star and he is just that in a lot of the world, just not here in the U.S. He can thank US radio and the flooding of the lame ass hip hop they try to force down our throats.

It makes me smile that people are finally starting to listen.

Yes, great track. He was talented even way back then. I think that track dates back to 93.

Though I am not Canadian, I have researched his stuff as I find it a breath of fresh air.

The track he did with the CBC Orchestra is hot too.

Another project that K-O's is involved with called Woman Machine.

I do not know anything about it, other than it exists.
