Anyone have more info about alleged MARIAH/MADONNA 1999 collabo?

Bored as hell at work I was just web surfing and came across some interesting information regarding a song called 'Angel Fire' (or 'Angel of Fire') that was written by Mariah, Madonna, William Orbit and Patrick Leonard back around 1999 for the 'All That Glitters' (Glitter) soundtrack. Here's what I found on a Mariah fan site and Wikipedia (which is not the most reliable source but does have good info on stuff)

Found in 'Unreleased Madonna Songs' in Wikipedia:

Angel Of Fire Written by Mariah Carey and Patrick Leonard. Produced by William Orbit. Madonna's writing and/or production contribution is not quite clear. She may have started the original demo or been brought in only as a "consultant". Mariah Carey spoke of the song to the press but her version also still remains unreleased.

Next one was found in a old Mariah web page:

ATG OST & A Song With Madonna!!
"Mariah was interviewed on "Extra." On the interview, she spoke about the collaborations she hopes to do on the "All That Glitters" Sndtrk. "There are certain songs I remember listening to growing up that make me relive moments in my childhood. It's like that moment in my life is trapped within the melody of the song. So I plan to work with those artists and hopefully be able to recreate the feeling as best I can. It's crucal that I try and be as true to that moment of my life as possible," says a nostalgic MC. The list of artists and collaborators she spoke of are as follows:
Chaka Khan
Donna Summer
Cindy Lauper (She spoke of doing a remake of Lauper's "Time After Time.")
Narada Michael Walden
Madonna/Patrick Leonard
Janet Jackson / Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis*****
Prince
Sting

"Those are the ones I remember vividly along with some gospel artists I was fond of listening to growing up as a child. Gospel music is what I used to listen to whenever times got hard so don't be surprised if this sndtrk turns out to be completely gospel (she laughs). But again, those are just a few names I can recall. But of course, because of political recording industry stuff, I'm not sure who will be able to collaborate on this one with me so don't go printing anything "Globe" or "Enquierer" (she laughs again). One song is already done so I can speak of this one. It's a song I worked on with Madonna, William Orbit, and Patrick Leonard. It's called "Angel Fire." It's a very powerful ballad infused with William's signature techno flare. But I haven't decided if it will be placed on the sndtrk because it's so incredibly personal. I'm not sure If I'm ready to share that part of my life yet but I guess only time will tell." says Mariah. Well it sounds cool so far. I'll try to keep you updated on the progress of the "ATG" Soundtrack. Keep up the hard work MC!!!"

i doubt any track feature them working together will see the light of day. Though alot of Glitter has references to Madonna's own life.

I doubt it either..but I had never heard about this...with all talks/rumors about constant feuding between the two...at some point they agreed to be associated with each other on a track (I doubt they all sat around in a studio together)..this song must've been passed back and forth to complete.

Interesting story though!

Yeah,I heard about this song. For her movie 'Glitter',Mariah wanted an 80s-inspired Madonna-sounding track,so she called up Madonna's producer. The result is "Angel Fire",a track that William Orbit had previously started with Madonna.

It's interesting to think what 'Glitter' could have been.Supposedly,Prince gave Mariah a song for the movie too but she didn't use it.Imo,Mariah should have worked with Old School artists from the 80s,and no modern-day rappers at all.She would have made a genuine 80s-sounding soundtrack to go with the film.

Madonna hated Mariah in the ninties (altough I think this was per-Kabblah Madonna...or the cool one!) so this seems really strange! I mean, she goofed so hard on Mariah!

Totally...in 1995 Madonna dissed Mariah in Spin magazine and Mariah fired back during an MTV interview saying 'I havent paid much attentiion to Madonna since she was popular'

It's interesting to think what the song would've sounded like...

supposdly the feud continues with Madonna demanding that Mariah be kept away from her during Live 8, and Madonna getting updates on the Emacapition Tour as she was on tour and laughing when she wouldn't sell out the same places she did.

Can´t imagine the two of them doing anything together.
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

That's right...Also I think there was a debate over the Grammys last year! Mariah wanted to open becuase of her big album but Madonna did, even though her album came out before being eligable for the Grammys, right?

Yeah something like that...they needed a big draw and the whole Gorillaz vs. Madonna proved to be just that instead of Mariah belting out 2 ballads in which I believe worked better midway through....
