It's a shame Robbie Williams' album "Rudebox" flopped... It's his best album by far!
It' so painful to see this happen to good pop music! May the orgers with the karaoke singer jokes enter this thread...prickes!!!

I have to disagree with ya Mike, I've like pretty much everything Robbie has done but Rudebox failed to impress me. They lyrics were shite. The Most Important Thing In Life Is Sincerity....Once You Can Fake That, You Can Fake Anything.

I was looking forward to the disc, cause I'm a huge pethead, but after listening to it the boys didn't really bring much to the mix. Though to be honest I've never really been impressed with the boys producing others. ..and the Talentless whore song is horrible. does anything think that all off his emotional issues stem from him being closeted?

It' so painful to see this happen to good pop music! I totally agree... This album just seems sooo much better (and more sophisticated), as a whole, than his previous releases. In fact, it probably comes closer than any previous release to being a CD I actually enjoy listening to from beginning to end. It doesn't surprise me that it's received a less then enthused reactions from casual fans though. They expect a lot of drippy ballads and/or stadium rock.

there were some very good tracks on RudeBox but it felt as if he
had two different albums ready to go and put track from both of them on the one disc. the dance tracks are far better than the other ones. robbie has a tendancy to write really silly lyrics and it doesn't suite him anymore now that he's grown up. that album would have been better with about 6 tracks left off, or better yet, 6 mediocre tracks replaced by 2 more killer ones. i still think it did rather well but it's not his best stuff on there. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

.
I'm happy with the project anyway because: 1.It's very slick and versatile 2.He rapped his head off in it, which's something he always wanted to do so i ain't complaining

I think the album is half killer, half filler. [Edited 2/19/07 4:58am]

He should've sticked with his commercial Britpop-sound. His first 3 albums, especially Sing When You're Winning are great, simple but great. Escapology had some good songs but Intensive Care and Rudebox are unforgivable!

My SH!T on Rudebox was:
Rudebox (This is still the JUMP OFF. And the remixes were my shit: Chicken Lips Malfunction, Riton, Soul Mechanik -- the.shii.) Never Touch That Switch (me + one of my friends love this track) She's Madonna (this is my current fave @ the mo', great video ...looking for remixes of this.) Kiss Me (I LOVE this Tin Tin cover! I cannot wait for summer so I can play this outside in hot weather.) Bongo Bong and Je Ne T'Aime Plus Lovelight (btw, Soulwax killed the remix for this.) I like how flippant and scattered the album is -- whether uncoincidental or not. For me, it's like being inside Robbie's head. Somebody was doing their homework on this album as far as the remixes and dance tracks were concerned -- got them electronica folks on this one! My man Joey Negro doin production on it. The whole thing plays like a head trip. And, Robbie + all those involved with this project, if no one else got it... I got it! ... [Edited 2/19/07 13:01pm]

He should've stuck with his commercial minneapolis-sound. His last 3 albums, especially 1999 are great, simple but great. Purple Rain had some good songs but Around The World in A Day and Parade are unforgivable!

It' so painful to see this happen to good pop music! May the orgers with the karaoke singer jokes enter this thread...prickes!!! I heard that dreadful Streets-lite single he did. What exactly was so bad about Rudebox that it died a death? Do enlighten me. I don't have anything against the guy (although checking into rehab for addiction to coffee is VERY wimpy - DRINK DECAFF INSTEAD!!!), and I do love No Rgrets, but the rest of his output leaves me cold ... There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

It' so painful to see this happen to good pop music! May the orgers with the karaoke singer jokes enter this thread...prickes!!! I totally agree. This was my second favourite album of last year, and I never liked a whole robbie album before. I think the problem was the lead single. It sent the wrong message about the album and the general public find it "fake" when someone tries to switch genres. The fact is, the album was not a huge leap away from his best pop, only the lead single was. Never Touch that switch, The Actor, Buslem Nights, She's Madonna and Lovelight are all superb tracks. I think The Actor would be a huge hit, but it might never see the light of day as a single. .

I enjoyed the RudeBox CD ....it's been 6 months & that song still creeps into my head when somebody mentions Robbie...
I also enjoyed Intensive care ... come to think of it I also enjoyed Escapology.....now come to think of that I also enjoyed all the previous releases of Robbie's.

I'm very pleased Robbies career is pretty much over.
asked about the irak war he said, "my thoughts r with the troops" He couldn't show any spine, even when it was quite trendy The best thing he ever said was when asked about drug use: "Don't take drugs they make you fat" he made me laugh with that R.I.P. wobbie - and no thanks.
