Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust" Round 5...My brain hurts a lot!! [ROUND CLOSED]

How completely unexpected! eek

Y'all voted off "Five Years".

Initially, I thought that this song along with the title track and "Rock N Roll Suicide" would make the final three.

Boy, was I wrong!

Ziggy's first song is a classic of the ages, depicting the common belief at the time that the world may end within the next 5 years.

Of course it didn't, but Bowie's conviction and fear set the stage for his future dystopia. The whole thing makes you want to live life to the fullest, not crawl into a bomb shelter. This showcases Ziggy's unique blend of decadence and innocence.

sigh

Onward Christian soldiers!

Here's what we've got left:

2. Soul Love
3. Moonage Daydream
4. Starman
8. Hang Onto Yourself
9. Ziggy Stardust
10. Suffragette City
11. Rock 'N' Roll Suicide

*Vote for the one song you want eliminated.

Here's what's gone:

8. Five Years
9. Lady Stardust
10. Star
11. It Ain't Easy

That's all we've got!

Well, since the philistines won and voted off Five Years, I'm going for the "sacrilege jugular" and voting for Ziggy Stardust. Never did care too much for that song. lol

Very puzzling, I think...I'm not quite the fan of this album or Bowie in general as you and some of the others are. I do think there are some middling songs here, and there are a few that I actually regard as genuinely poor, but no way is Five Years one of them. I figure it's one of the best and most distinctive tracks of his career.

I'm shocked by the way the vote has gone ~ but it is getting more difficult with each vote.
I'll have to stay with Starman as much as I love it. neutral

I'm shocked that "lady stardust" is gone, actually.

That said, STARMAN needs to go.
