I also love "I Want You" does anyone else notice the vibe of Prince's "The Beautiful Ones" in all that angst, hunger and desperation. Even the line ...I Want You ...

I saw that in his "Jimmy's Rap" per4mance.

Why does that rap, especially the chocolate cake part, always make me want to interrupt and say "Now you can all take a bite of my purple rock."

lol

EVERYTIME the rap plays this is what I think about ...

Have you even seen Blood Diamond with Djimon Hounsou or Little Children with Jackie Earle Haley? That's greatness.

He's the weakest performance out of all the Best Supporting Actor nominees (Djimon Hounsou and Jackie Earle Haley are my favs). Hudson is probably the 4th best of the 5 in the Supporting Actress too. Although none of them are as bad as Helen Mirren. Just WHY are the weakest ones the hot favourites to win the Oscars?

what crack are you smoking? nuts

lol

SO you're telling me you've seen all the films, have you?

I'd love to see someone else play the scene where Hounsou goes to the refugee camp to find his family ther ebut his son missing. Heartbreaking.

Hell, I think Beyonce could have managed Hudson's role in Dreamgirls if she had the right look. AFter all, she already did it in Austin Powers, Goldmember lol

the majority...and since mirren, whittaker, hudson and murphy have won all the major critic and peer awards i just can't comprehend your comments...especially in regards to mirren. sure, she wasn't uglied up...didn't have any emotional outbursts or didn't wear flashy period costumes but her performance is just as awe inspiring as charlize therons. just a lot more subtle.

and bank on topic: murphy conveyed with one look a million more emotions then anything that i've seen in recent years. he actually does (i believe if memory serves) during Fake Your Way To The Top...he gives a look to the one girl who isnt Beyonce or Hudson....(err, why am i so horrible with names?). its a look of seduction, desperation, sadness, loneliness, lust and power all in one. that look blew me away...its part of a collective performance that is nothing like anything eddie has done before...and thats why i personally think eddie is worthy of the oscar. heck, for him to have received all the awards he has from a community that supposedly loathes him has to be testament to something.
Space for sale...

Seems like Eddie doing his James Brown impression to me. It's entertaining, though.

P.S. Jim Carrey does this public annoucement about money for victims of Katrina I think ...I kept waiting for the joke and wanted to burst out laughing. Then, I said, oh, he's serious! He's raising money. My bad. He looked like he was doing a comedic schtick, like he was on the verge of howling. He couldn't bury his funny.

Before he became known as "Jim Carrey", Jim Carrey did a film called "Doing Time on Maple Drive". It was a serious role and he was quite good in it. I wonder if he's able to summon those kinds of dramatic chops nowadays...

I think he was OK in the Truman show. (just used that commerical because it underscored a point). I do think Carrey has been trying to pull off the dramatic (The Majestic, Eternal Sunshine) and has been pissed that the market has not responded with raves. I personally don't think he can bury his funny that much below the surface to evoke great drama.

But I have Netflix, going to see if they have that "Doing Time..." movie.
