i like everything from 'music for the masses' through 'exciter'. the really old stuff and the really recent stuff doesn't grab me as much. but i can listen to anything by them, i really like their sound in general.

Ex-Moderator | I was a huge fan when I was in junior high and high school but I haven't really listened to them since. And I'm 31 now. So it's been a long time. I still love the stuff from then, though. |

Lots of orgers like Depeche Mode. They get a lot of love around here. I tend to like Some Great Reward - Violator. Of course there are many songs before and after that I like, But I have no issue putting on any of those records. Well SGR I gotta stop before Blasphemous rumors. Way too played out for me, by me Christian Zombie Vampires

I've seen them live only once last year in Paris, the show was great, 10 years ago I thought that this band with David Gahan's drugs problems and the departure of Alan wilder had no future, however I think that Martyr For love sucks

They're ok.
Some of their songs are among my favorite of any band ( What's your name, Blasphemous rumors, Everything Counts, Policy of Truth, Lillian). And the Speek and Spell album brings back many great memories of when I used to live in Germany. But overall, the music seems kindo of incidental. Kind of throwaway-Pop to me.

Depressed Mode I dig these from start to finish Violator, Exciter, Ultra, SOFAD, and earlier songs like People Are People, Pipeline, Everything Counts, Tora!Tora!Tora!, Any Second Now, Leave In Silience, Shame, My Secret Garden, Get The Balance Right, A Question Of Lust, Dressed In Black, New Dress.

GREAT! A depeche mode's post!
They're my fav new wave/electronic/alternative band of all time. I discovered them when I was fifteen with the "Ultra" album (1997); songs like "Barrel of a gun", "It's no good" or "Useless" truly astonished me. In the late 90's I was very obsessive about the electronic music, so Depeche Mode became one of my favourite bands. Personally, I think that they haven't released any weak album, all their LP's are just good, very good or classic masterpieces. Their debut (Speak and spell) it's the BEST dance-pop/new wave album of all time and their 84-97 years are just AMAZING, with the release of albums like Some great reward, Black celebration, Music for the masses, 101 Live, Violator, Songs of faith and devotion and Ultra. Their last album, Playing the Angel, is also very good, their best and most consistent after Wilder's departure; I believe that Suffer well, John the revelator, A pain that I'm used to and Precious are all modern classics, and they're are still an amazing live band, I saw them two times in Paris and Barcelona last year and they were fantastic. My personal Top-Ten would be 1.I feel you 2.Enjoy the silence 3.Behind the wheel 4.Master and servant 5.Never let me down again 6.Personal Jesus 7.Stripped 8.Condemnation 9.It's no good 10.I just can't get enough [Edited 2/18/07 15:32pm]

And if you want to hear some cheesy synths, listen to any DM album up til Music for the Masses, and you'll hear plenty.

I don't get the attitude that Music For The Masses is where they got consistently good. That album has some of their best moments, but as a whole, Some Great Reward and Black Celebration are much better.

The better question would be 'Who doesn't like Depeche Mode'?

I did cry!!! Wasn't it beautiful? "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"
