tori amos - "the big picture" oh lordy, this video is too many things!
vh1 has added a bunch of tori videos, including one from y kant tori read ("the big picture"). if you haven't seen this video yet, i'm providing a link for you to go check out right now. big hair, bad acting, worse lyrics...and still humping a piano even in 1988. http://www.vh1.com/search...type=video

hilarious
But you know, there are some good things on that album... I *love* Cool on your Island and Etienne when she performs them live. I'm glad the album bombed, though... we never would've gotten "Little Earthquakes" had Y Kan't Tori Read been a success. Funny how things work out sometimes

It's really a shame Tori disowned the album...

she hasn't disowned the album in its entirety. she re-recorded cool on your island (though, honestly, i like the original better) and she still performs etienne at live shows. she also makes fun of her hair rock days, lol. the best nod to her y kant tori read days is, without a doubt, glory of the 80s. i think she's cool with those days now that she's secure with her spot in music.

yeah I agree, she hasn't disowned it at all. It seems to me that she looks back on it with a mix of amused horror and embarrassment, but also a certain amount of fondness. She jokes about it, but still does Cool on your Island and Etienne live, as you mentioned... if she wanted to pretend it didn't exist, she wouldn't bother doing those. But, then again, she hasn't allowed it to be re-issued, so I guess that does say something. I *love* Glory of the 80's.

Etienne is one of my favourite songs by Tori ~ the album sits proudly on my shelf with all her others!!! Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife. --Kahlil Gibran
