If I said no, then I'm lying! But what about you? And who would you sample?

BTW, ABBA sounds real good right about now! lol

No i wouldnt do it mainly because i am a writer and filmmaker and the idea of people using something i wrote just bothers me. Even "song covers" bother me, since almost 90% of the time the artist being covered is far superior than the person doing the cover, and also they tend to alter the song, add lyrics. There is a John Lennon CD that is being worked on for the AMnesty charities and i heard part of Black Eyed Peas doing "Power to the People", HORRIFIC, they added there own "raps and lyrics" to the Lennon "Power to the People". So sampling even if it was Legal would still be a thing that i couldnt look at.

Song Covers are a good thing if you're Luther Vandross and you can make the song your own. But sadly, not everyone can do a good cover song at all (Ginuwine covering When Doves Cry for example).

I'd steal, um use some Jesse Johnson tracks. I don't think I ever heard Jesse sampled on a track. I'd also sample some guy named James Brown, I wonder uf anyone has sampled him yet.

yes...YOU nod

but you know that when we go in to the studio to cut these tracks we gotta stay away from the obvious right? (james brown, prince, parliament)

i think you would be quite innovative when it comes to samples.

i'd use Jean-Luc Ponty,Warren Zevon,Ray Romano,Toto,just to name a few.

No Thanks hmph!

Sampling is like cheating. Take a song thats already well liked or appreciated and just stick your voice on it confused
If your gonna do music, do it fully

not that all samples are bad, there's just too many people taking that easy way out to get a a hit.

If you take someone's song rip the vocals off and replace them with your own...and adding almost nothing new, you're right then it's cheating and basically you're ripping off the song.

However not all sampling is cheating...hardly. It depends on what you sample and how you incorporate it into the song.

I always liken sampling to when they brought the 3-point line closer to the hoop in the mid/late 1990s. Suddenly you had all these guys hitting 3-point baskets! It was fun and entertaining for a while, but soon it became kind of boring. When they moved it back, that's when the REAL shooters stepped up to the plate. All the fakers couldn't cut it no more.

I guess what I'm saying is that, sure, sampling's fun, but it's not really inspiring after a while.
