The most "love song-ish" song she has is Nothern Lad from Choirgirl

I'be listened to all her albums (and almost all of the Bee-sides) had I don't remember ever listening to a verse that contains "I love you"...

The closest I can think of is her cover of "Angie".

yes...only in covers she sings Love in it's more icky...sticky nature.

The question is:

Is love an unspoken truth for Tori or she's frigid towards it because of the abuse she had from men?

I don't think she's frigid. She just doesn't write anything that's cliche or overly obvious.

Isn't it a denial of a woman's nature to be romantic?

That certainly is a contender for greatest break up songs.

she sings about love all the time, she just does it a lot better
than most people and doesn't resort to blunt lyrics but creates
these little panoptical stories out of which the emotion of each
song just shimmers like a soft light.

even her supposed break up songs, or her angry songs contain an
element of unrelenting, unconditional love imo.

it's just that her love is real, warts and all. she takes hurt,
disappoinement, rejection, abuse and manipulation right along
with the more happy emotions of love and mixes them up, just as
they are in real life.

perhaps that's why it's a bit less obvious, but it certainly is
a lot more real.

She never wrote a verse with "When you judge a book by the cover, you judge the look by the lover" either.
