Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly's "Teach Each Other- We Need A New Album From These Guys Anybody else agree we need a new album from these soul/R&B vetereans? "Teach Each Other" from The Brothers soundtrack is one of the best pure r&b songs of the last 10 years and to think it was stuck on this soundtrack. OOO WEEE this song is so tight. Frankie Beverly always stuck to his r&B roots. All of his albums back in their heyday went gold, but none went platinum. Instead of watering down his style and the essence of what makes r&B great to obtain more sales, Frankie and Maze just stuck to pure r&B/soul music. Nelson George said in his amazing book The Death Of Rhythm And Blues that Frankie Beverly is a hero of rhythm and blues music, in the sense that he didn't compromise his r&b roots to achieve multi-platinum status(like so many other r&b acts did, which in part lead to the untimely death of real soul and funk music).
We need a new record from these guys. As "Teach Each Other" demonstrate, these guys still have what it takes. R&B is in dire need of a band like this now. Anybody know whether they're in the lab working on anything or whether they have a record deal? I know they still do well touring. Much respect and props unto Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. | |
