The Wheel's On Fire - Siouxsie and The Banshees Version | appreciation thread This is my favorite version of this song. The orchestral background is beyond words

I first heard the song as the introduction to Ab Fab and I'm not sure if that was some sort of offical verison by a real band or just one recorded for the show, but the Sioxsie verison kicks major ass.
It's funny...I was at Triva Night on Monday and they were doing these mashup songs and it was kind of fun but frustarting. It did challenge people to work together. In one mashup it was "Peekaboo" and "Sexyback" (we all know that artist for that one). So that was the easiest for me and there was a teamate who also recognized the Siouxsie tune right away (probably faster than "Sexy Back"). Anyway, after they said the ansers, the frat boys behind where like "Siouxsie and the what?" and I said somehting to the effect of "Who the fuck doesn't know Siouxsie and the Banshees". It got a pretty big laugh!

My first time hearing WOF, was Siouxsie version (actually all the songs on TTLG were firsts for me). I'm not a big fan of their covers though. Oh and most people under 30 don't know who Siouxsie is. And many over 30 know of her, but don't know her music. Christian Zombie Vampires

It's totally different song as the opener of the show. I think because Patsy and Edie are so stuck in the sixties and seventies (and to a lesser extent, the eigties) it's kind of fitting. As for Siouxsie covers, I'm a big fan. THeir verison of "The Passenger" is the defintive one IMHO. Sorry, Iggy. And of course I realize that most people have no idea about Siouxsie, especially under those 30. It was just a funny comment. They also played a mix of Joy Divison and Bauhaus (sp?), who are groups I know of but don't know much of their music. and I was frustrated and had no idea but when I heard the answers, I so knew my sister would've known it! The story is Siouxsie didn't know this was a Dylan song when she chose to cover it for the 'Looking Glass' album. She was actually covering a cover.

WHat are you talking about? Yeah, Siouxsie's first ever solo album is supposed to be released this year. I thought it would be just another Creatures album, but credited to Sioux so it would sell more, but based on what I've heard her say in interviews, maybe it will be a real solo record. One rumor that has been going around is there will be a collaboration with Goldfrapp on the album. As much as I would LOVE for that to be true, I think it's false.

Not sure if I like the idea of a Solo Album from her. Does she have the musical chops to go it alone? Why give up on Creature Material? At least you have a drummer! Christian Zombie Vampires

I would be surprised if Budgie wasn't all over this album. Maybe it will sound like the more electronic tracks on 'Anima Animus'.
