TO THE LEFT, TO THE LEFT: THE BEST PHOTOS OF BEYONCE

OK, I'm not a fan of Beyonce's music, either solo or with Destiny's Child. And she may not be the best songwriter in the industry (just read the lyrics to "Bootylicious"). And yes, being Jay-Z's girlfriend never struck me as something beyond being a business arrangement. But there is no doubt for a 25-year-old, Beyonce Knowles is one beautiful woman.

So for all you do, Beyonce, this photo thread is for you:

Feel free to post any pictures of Ms. Knowles.

It's no doubt the girl is fine. And she probably has the best body in the entertainment industry. But what the hell is she doing on the song "To The Left?" She has the most craziest sounding vocals. Especially on the second half of the hook. I'm like "Where in the hell is she going?" She's sharp AND flat at the same time!

Man, I'll take "To The Left" over "Ring The Alarm" anyday. That song gives me a migraine.

[Being a "slut" has no racial ties... let's not make this a race war. novabrkr has a right to call Beyonce a slut if he wants to, I don't agree... but, that's life in a world where you have the right to your opinion. Now, if he called an orger a slut... that'd be a different story.

In any case - let's keep it friendly. Also, novabrkr, if you don't like the artist, why click on a thread clearly listing that the artist (and pictures of the artist) will be displayed... doesn't make sense. confused - June7]

Oh c'mon. It was a joke based on the previous thread that I thought was stupid as hell.

I've listened to too many records covering myriad subgenres of modern music to this day to be too concerned about the image of some pop artist, or whether I like them as personalities or not. I hardly "dislike" any pop artist in general, because it's so far removed from most of the music that I consume.

This thread was just started immediately after the previous one got locked, so I couldn't resist. No, I don't think Beyoncé Knowles is a "slut", I think I clearly made my point in the previous thread already.

I am not a huge beyonce fan musically myself. She was cool with destiny's
child before daddy knowles pushed his weight around (letoya, letavia, farrah)
and took over the group. Nevertheless; i may be in the minority here but i
was very impressed with her in the movie dreamgirls i thought she did a good job. I won't take nothing away from all that jennifer hudson mania but besides
her performance of i'm telling you i'm not going (no comparison with the original) i just thought her and the movie was overhyped. Maybe it is just a chick flick. I think beyonce got unfair criticism in the movie. I would still
push her recent cd TO THE LEFT, TO THE LEFT in the trash.

I remember, your point that some dance scene Beyonce did in a video was equated to "slutty." Forget the fact it was a choreographed video.

And as far a race issue, what has Beyonce done to even warrant a "slut" description by you or others? She's in a monogamous relationship (as far as we know), and her music presentation is very straightforward (definitely nothing as raunchy as some of the other performers).

Thank you for completely ignoring my point. My comment was that she simply doesn't go enough far with her portrayal of sexuality and sustains her "sluttiness" on a purely surface level for marketing purposes. She's sometimes trying too hard to be something that she is obviously not as a person and that upsets some people - I could care less to be honest whether some celebrity has a sexually promiscious personal life or not. The same applies to many other young females in the pop/r&b marketplace, but Beyoncé gets signified according to her own behaviour most prominently simply because she's the most prominent female singer doing it.

But really I am not going to have this argument with you to any further degree, as your constant "race argument" is really starting to get on people's nerves. You're just stating "race" has something to do with it, but do not explicate why you are even bringing it up. Mind you, I am not an American - Europeans have a completely different perspective on racial issues that do not resemble the American way to handle things to hardly any degree. So please do not add an assumed prejudicous dimension to any conversation when the participants haven't even grown-up in the same cultural environment that has created those structures for their own privatized needs. I think Beyoncé Knowles is a very beautiful young woman, if a bit uninformed and having been caught up in her own fame since her teens (as far as I know).

Thank you for your attention, bye. Have a nice day.

There was a previous thread about Beyonce where several posters were saying Beyonce was "slutty" -- or as they interpreted it, a "slutty image" -- including a moderator who started the comments. Several members questioned what kind of bias they had to issue unwarranted, and some asked whether race was an issue.

We won't even get into the argument that a moderator on a Web site is supposed to be an impartial and disassociated person (and if anything, one that does not post with obviously biased comments toward or against artists). The moderator then posted a picture of his or her definition of "slutty" -- an otherwise normal shot of Beyonce performing a routine dance shot in concert -- and several posters said the moderator was showing an evident bias.

Of course, it also requires the moderator to ignore that (s)he has an avatar of a woman in a Santa Claus bikini being groped by a man.

That's interesting, because Beyonce doesn't strike me as trying to portray some "sluttiness." Her music, her persona, her public appearances never portrayed some sort of hypersexed persona -- in fact, her videos and photo shoots are no different than any other recording artists.

If that is the case, then Beyonce is no different than the vast majority of recording artists (most of whom on some level exhibit some aspect of sexuality, be it in their music or persona). It seems like the issue is your subjective interpretation -- "Oh, Beyonce is wearing shorts in a photo -- that means she should act like a ho!" Just because Beyonce may wear shorts in a photo or video doesn't mean she's trying to give a suggestion she's trying to be a "superficial ho."
