Thank you for completely ignoring my point. My comment was that she simply doesn't go enough far with her portrayal of sexuality and sustains her "sluttiness" on a purely surface level for marketing purposes. She's sometimes trying too hard to be something that she is obviously not as a person and that upsets some people - I could care less to be honest whether some celebrity has a sexually promiscious personal life or not.

That's interesting, because Beyonce doesn't strike me as trying to portray some "sluttiness." Her music, her persona, her public appearances never portrayed some sort of hypersexed persona -- in fact, her videos and photo shoots are no different than any other recording artists.

If that is the case, then Beyonce is no different than the vast majority of recording artists. It seems like the issue is your subjective interpretation -- "Oh, Beyonce is wearing shorts in a photo -- that means she should act like a ho!" Just because Beyonce may shorts in a photo or video doesn't mean she's trying to give a suggestion she's trying to be a "superficial ho."

You really don't pay any attention to what people are writing on their posts, you are totally ignoring any content people are attempting to put on them. Sorry for my childish joke though if you couldn't take it. It was nice to get to know you, bye. Have a pleasant stay at the internet.

why are you taking this stuff so personal man? something happened in that robert palmer thread that has lead to you being all bent out of shape. my being a moderator has nothing to do with my opinion. nothing!!! i can be opinionated about subjects that we discuss...just like you are free to call lisa coleman a man...thats your right...and i aint holding it against cha buddy... lol

i really think you are taking this site a tad too serious...folks are here to have fun...some of us are even trying to lighten you up a lil and make you laugh at it all..but instead you seem to be getting more and more upset...

well, im sorry for that...im sorry your not having fun here...but my opinion still stands. and i have the right to voice it...just as you have the right to disagree and voice your own opinion on the subject. without getting personal.

have a good weekend:

i just noticed a comment najee made. this one:

We won't even get into the argument that a moderator on a Web site is supposed to be an impartial and disassociated person (and if anything, one that does not post with obviously biased comments toward or against artists).

this comment right here are wrong [as it pertains to this site]. we mods are not here to moderate discussion. we are here to make sure that the rules of this website, set by Ben, are not violated. thats a huge difference.

I didn't say those were the rules of this particular Web site. I said that moderators of Web sites have an implied responsibility to be impartial and disassociated from any conversation that suggests a personal bias or favoritism. When you have moderators showing bias toward or against certain subjects or members, then there is a risk of compromising the integrity of the board.

If anything, selectively editing content (which you apparently have done on this thread) shows you ARE moderating discussion.

That was evident in the previous thread, where several people called you out on your comments about Beyonce and you reacted by throwing a hissy fit and closing down the thread. If you don't like Beyonce, that's one thing. But as a moderator purposely looking for threads to show any bias an artist and then try to "get back" at those questioning you by closing the thread is ridiculous.

The difference between you and me (as well as several others, according the Beyonce thread you closed) is that I am not purposely looking for Lisa Coleman threads to trash. It's one thing to expect that from a member, but not from someone who is a moderator who can close a thread when things are not going to his or her liking.

The ironic part about this is that I'm not a Beyonce fan in the slightest. But it's pretty pathetic when a moderator refers to an artist with no such salacious reputation as having a "slutty" image and then when called out on it throws a fit and closes the thread.

Good grief. Beyonce will be alright. She has the world at her feet. So what if some random posters on the internet think she has a slutty image. Obviously, men of all races desire her and don't have a problem with her image because she was just named the most desirable woman in the world.

I wish people would be this passionate for all the sistas in the industry that are ignored because they don't have mainstream beauty like Beyonce. confused

huh? who's comments are being edited? anyone? anyone? bueller? bueller?

and i posted the reason why that thread was locked...it was because folks were making claims or racism and turning the discussion personal...

and once again, i am free to share my opinion...my posting the pic i did was a lighthearted attempt to make you laugh at the absurdity of this thread (and the previous threads argument)...

oh come on....we are all humans...we all have our good days and bad days. there are times when we all need to take breaks from the site because we take it too serious...you are no better then anybody else...i've seen you go at it from time to time.

but in the end we all need to remember that we all have real lives outside these threads and we need to be respectful of each others opinions and make this place as enjoyable as possible as much as we can. agreed?

All of this over Beyonce? It really is not that serious.Beyonce does dress slutty on occasion. She's been dressing and dancing provocatively since she was a pre-teen, thanks to Pimp Knowles I wonder if anyone would have come to her defense if her looks were average. neutral

I find it funny that a thread was started about her looks instead of a thread showing an appreciation for her music. That speaks volume more than anything else. She is where she is because of her "safe" mainstream looks. If there was no such think as the internet or music video and she had to solely rely on her music, she would not be where she is today.

I still think some folks are missing the point here...It's not whether or not you find Beyonce's music tepid, weak or just plain awful...It's about people who have an agenda making claims about an artist that are just plain silly...People can shit on Beyonce's music and her diva image all day and I have no problem with that...Because that's just opinion...And some of it is actually true..

But, I do have a problem with folks, whether they are black or white, saying she perpetuates a "slutty" image because their idea of "slutty" is laughable, hypocritical, and puzzling.....There's a difference between folks having a sense of humor (Beyonce sings like a goat; She has 20 songwriters; She's the new age Diana Ross, for all the wrong reasons...Ect, ect...Those are jokes...) and someone just pulling shit from their ass... Really, the slut comments are weird...

why are you trying to control something you have absolutely no control over? people are free to their own opinions...however and for whatever reasons. why get so bent, upset and pissed over what you perceive are other's motives or logic? in the end, we are all free to share our opinions...but heres the kicker part, you have the power to disagree...share why you disagree...thats whats so great about this website...

but placing biases on others...judging others views...criticizing participants of this site for sharing their perspective is a slippery slope which can lead to folks feeling that this place is one that does not appreciate "all perspectives" or worse: one that supports censorship.

and in the end, this place is supposed to be fun...so, hey...you think i have an agenda against beyonce...(which what would that entail btw? me starting a militia group against her? underground movement? dropping anti beyonce lit from airplanes?) or could it be that im just sharing my opinion on her? just like we all do...within dozens and dozens of threads....hundreds over a year...yet you remember two threads were i have bashed beyonce and somehow that constitutes an agenda?

why let it piss or frustrate you to the point were there s all this mess? can't folks just agree to disagree?

But, but, but.....

Why can someone not be allowed to voice what they want to without it becoming a full fledged war of words? The one large problem I have with this site in general is the fact that people tend toward anger and ugliness to prove their point. They think that their abuse of others is ok, but the other person's opinion cannot be tolerated. It's frickin' freaky to me that this behavior is displayed by some, and they don't even see it.

There was an antisocial thread in GD. The thread originator wanted to know why certain people didn't engage as much as the mainstream here. That ugliness is why I don't, because I have STRONG opinions of things that other people might not get or even try to understand. Their only retaliation is to threaten and insult. There is no arguing with a person like that. So fuck it.

And who cares anyway at the end of the day really, that picture above could be considered "slutty" in a general sense. At least 3 out of 10 would agree that the picture is provocative, and "slutty" is just an expression.

In other words, big fing deal, move along now, damn.

Again...I have no problem with commenting on any artist...Saying you don't like a song, an artist or an album is one thing...I dig that...in fact I find it funny at times...I have my own jokes about groups like Nickleback and The Dave Matthews Band...Not my cup and tea and at times I can be hard on those acts..But I've never made comments about them that seemed left field...I mean, as I've said before, I can say shit like Prince was pushing a homosexual image and would have every right to make such a statement...But does that make it right? Am I looking at it through a unbiased eyes? Am I just making such statements because I may not understand a certain style or culture?

To me, this is the same as saying Beyonce fosters a slutty image...I just don't see it...She does however fosters lackluster music at times...But that's another post...Bottom line, I'm not trying to make trouble or start shit...Just hoping that we all can have a little more understanding...That's all...That's my point...Peace...
