KASHIF APPRECIATION THREAD This 1980s singer/songwriter/producer had his hands in more than a few sizable R&B hits. His mastery of synthesizers and inventive uses of computerized sampling was parlayed into creating a course at UCLA on contemporary music production and his book, "Everything You'd Better Know About the Record Industry." [Edited 1/21/07 20:32pm] THE TRAFFIC JAMMERS, The Org's house band: VAINANDY -- lead singer; NAJEE -- bass; THE AUDIENCE -- guitar; PHUNKDADDY -- rhythm guitar; ALEX de PARIS -- keyboards; Da PRETTYMAN -- keyboards; FUNKENSTEIN -- drums. HOLD ON TO YOUR DRAWERS!

I'm sure Harlepolis will be all up in this thread soon
These are my favorite Kashif songs... "I Just Gotta Have You (Lover Turn Me On)" (1983) "Stone Love" (1983) "Don't Stop My Love" (1983) "Baby Don't Break Your Baby's Heart" (1984) "Are You The Woman" (1984) and I love many of the songs he wrote and/or produced for others... "So Fine" by Howard Johnson (1982) "Love's Comin At Cha" by Melba Moore (1982) "Mind Up Tonight" by Melba Moore (1982) "Livin' For Your Love" by Melba Moore (1983) "I'm In Love" by Evelyn King (1981) "Love Come Down" by Evelyn King (1982) "Inside Love (So Personal)" by George Benson (1983) He had a really distinctive sound with lots of breathy background vocals, killer basslines, and catchy choruses/hooks."I Just Gotta Have You" is a classic example.

This is my FAVE song from him....
From his debut album which was the ONLY nin-filler shit he ever released IMHO. My beef with him is, he threw a GREAT DEAL of stuff on other folks(Melba Moore, Evelyn King, George Benson, High Fashion/Melisa Morgan, Lilo and etc) instead of keeping 'em for himself. He has a book now, its called "Things You Have To Know About Music Biz".
