Awww,,,,This Is the 1st time I see the Queen tear up! Ain't that nice?
http://www.youtube.com/wa...VHuH2j0ScM I couldn't care less about Ruben though its still is kinda touchy seeing the vulnerable side of Miss Aretha on camera. Love you Aunt ReRe.

This really is the first time I see Aretha crying like that.
This song has so many layers of meaning. It probably reminded Re of all the loved ones she'd lost: mom, dad, Carolyn, Erma, Cecil... BTW Ruben's rendition was done gracefully, but I don't think he fully did 'Angel' justice. The I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

my first time also
also my first time seeing Natalie perform 2 of the queen's songs with approval she seemed satisfied because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

how was it to be honest Ruben was boring to me but it was interesting nevertheless to see Nanny Ree crying she misses Carolyn because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

Seeing Aretha tear up was really touching but when I watched Natalie's performances I kept thinking of Harlepolis' posts about Natalie and Aretha. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Chaka was GREAT so was Smokey BUT... Al Jarreau & Freddie Hubbard did a bang up job too made the queen get out her seat the one & only time she did they did "Mumbles" from this: I thoroughly enjoyed that I was snappin my fingers too because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

Must be a gospel singer. I didn't see the celebration,,,,I can't view BET over here(fact is, I don't remember the last time I tuned in for BET). Eversince Ed Gordon and Tavis Smiley left the "plantation". They took what was left from a lil' bit of class with them. TVOne and PBS became my BETs from then on So far, all I found from Natalie in the tube(that I want to see) is her interview. Gotta give her the credit, she's an intersting interviewee.

Only Franklin herself can... It`s one of my favorites by her, and i love the intro... "I got a call the other day It was my sister, Carolyn, sayin Aretha, come by when you can I've got somethin I wanna say. And when I got there she said You know, rather than go through a long drawn out thing, I think the melody on the box, will help me explain" He'll be there now don't you worry keep lookin and just keep cookin`...

I'm still on the search for that album. Its really sad that she hasn't worked with Uncle Q ever again. I think the rejection she caught when that album flopped left a bad taste in her mouth.

Speaking of Natalie, I stumbled across a pretty good interview with her by Tavis Smiley on iTunes. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

It looked like she was ready to cry for Stevie, too, but it didn't happen.
What did you think of his performance? It sounded like he used a vocoder or auto pitch or some processor on his voice? And all over the place at the beginning. Sounded great by the end, though My Legacy

Sounded great by the end, though Funny someone on the radio said the same thing about Stevie and some of the other artists. They thought they were using ProTools but it needed to be corrected. I noticed a slight flatness with Chaka Khan that sounded what I termed as mechanical. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Sounded like the auto-pitch wasn't sure which note to choose, and it was fluttering between them. My Legacy

I thought ProTools was only used during recordings. Is it common to use it for live performances without the artist's knowledge? Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Stevie's performance and Chaka's first performance (she recovered a bit with Dr. Feelgood) were vocally shaky.
Not sure if they couldn't hear themselves/the band or what. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

This is a great interview: http://www.youtube.com/wa...69qzBtCZYE Watch out for the interview with 7 years ol' Natalie Like I said, I love her personality,,,,but not her music. On the other hand, I can think of folks with great music and ZERO personality ratings

I think the rejection she caught when that album flopped left a bad taste in her mouth. I think you`ll like "Hey now hey" In a way i can understand why it was a commercial flop, it`s different from the other albums she recorded in the 70s, so i people were expecting something completely different than the songs she chose for the album. It turned out to be a VERY good album, and i think most her fans would agree... I hope someone puts Natalie Cole`s performances on youtube, that`s what i`m most curious about. Did she sing just "Day dreaming"? And Al Jarreau was there too? What a show.....

The venue looks and sounds a lot like when I saw her showcasing Leavin’ if it’s not the same place except she had on black. I like that she doesn’t seem to hold back in her interviews. Wish I could link of the Tavis interview. Do you the know the name of the made for TV movie? I’d like to check it out. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I remember liking the first track a lot, it was much more adventurous than anything I'd ever heard from Aretha. The album cover has lots of drug references on it. Very 70's. My Legacy
