David Bowie "Ziggy Stardust" Survivor Round 2...when you're goin' down [ROUND CLOSED] Turns out, it IS easy.
As predicted, just like with "Hunky Dory", the cover tune "It Ain't Easy" gets the boot first, and for good reason. The tune itself sounds like something he would've done years earlier and is totally out of place with the rest of the album. It's impossible to decipher how it fits in with the storyline of the album. And there are much stronger songs like "Velvet Goldmine" and "Sweet Head" that would've fit in much better. But after this, it gets really hard to choose as the remaining songs are all classics or near misses. Here's what we've got: 1. Five Years 2. Soul Love 3. Moonage Daydream 4. Starman 6. Lady Stardust 7. Star 8. Hang Onto Yourself 9. Ziggy Stardust 10. Suffragette City 11. Rock 'N' Roll Suicide *Vote for the one song you want removed from the competition. Anyone know where I can find more pictures like this? Most are black and white, but there are several of his earliest Ziggy days when he first cut his hair short, starting wearing the strange costumes and took on the Ziggy persona. It was before he dyed his hair orange and shaved his eyebrows. Past threads - http://www.prince.org/msg/8/215627 [Edited 1/31/07 18:38pm]

Star. It is painful to lose that one since it is not nearly as weak as "It ain't easy" "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

Lady Stardust. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

I'm surprised by all the votes for Star. Any song is hard to pick at this point, but the nearly unanimous choice is funny.
I choose Five Years. It really sets up the album, but as a stand alone song I could do without it. Also, it always reminded me too much of Lennon's Mother to fit on such an original album. My Legacy

Lady Stardust, although it's no easy decision already. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.
