Why do we HATE on

WHY do we hate on JANET JACKSON, MARIAH CAREY, BEYONCE, BRITNEY SPEARS

i just want to know everyone's opinion for each woman... because i always seem to find threads about these women... and no one seems to like them.
What about these women get on your nerves and what about them that you like.. if any

Janetjackson: I love her music when the lyrics are clean. She is the best female entertainer EVER. No one could ever have come close to her Rhythem Nation, Janet and Velvet Rope tour. NOt even madonna who admited to NOT being a great dancer. I have seen previews of Madonna's concerts and they are as great as JJ's.
I hate how she always has to post topless holding her breast... its so typical
I hate her disgusting lyrics, too graphic.

Mariah carey: I love her old voice, i like her voice now, I like her songs
I hate how she tries to hard with everything , she always has to pose and be fake, and she says the stupidest things. and I can't stand her diva ego narssistic attitude all the time... (if you can ever watch the making of her shake it off video please watch so you can see my point).

Beyonce: i love her style most of the time, I think she has the curvest body. One of the best around.
I hate how she is sooooo fake. She tries hard to pretend to be classy when she is not. And she tries to hide everything about herself and Jay-Z. She is a boring artist in my opinion and she really can NOT sing or dance. She does typical dance moves and she thinks she is this really big star that deserves all the attention and that everything she does is great.

Britney: I love how she is a cute mom. She has a cute country girl personality
I hate how she dresses now, i dont like her hair extentions, and how she keeps showing her private. She has become trashy.

* Maybe the fact that Janet Jackson is a 40-year-old woman trying to appeal to an audience young enough to be her children is the turn off with her. Keep in mind, a lot of her target audience's PARENTS used to buy her music when they were teen-agers. If anything, Jackson's music is a reflection of an act who has not grown with her core audience and has become an anachorism -- just like her brother Michael. IMO, the ass-out shots also don't help her image.

* With Mariah Carey, it's the same affliction Jackson has but to a lesser degree. It seems like Carey has been coming out with the same-sounding, superficial songs for the past 15-plus years, but unlike Jackson Carey's total audience is not totally teen-ager based.

* As for Beyonce, she's suffering from overexposure. She's been a constantly high-profile pop culture presence for six years straight and I feel people are just tired of looking at her. I also get tired of her music -- it seems like ALL her songs are so-called "women empowerment" songs when in reality it's the same song about men being worthless dogs and she's out to bash them all for the Lifetime network.

* And finally, Britney Spears is tabloid fodder whose fleeting music career ended some four years ago. Like Jackson, she can get attention only when she's flashing some body part. She's like most of the other white, teen-aged girl singers in the 1990s who didn't have any real staying power or credible music (see Jessica Simpson) once people lost interest in them. She is only relevant as a novelty act for The Inqiuirer and People magazine.

lol COLD SHIT! lol

My take:

I like Janet but musically she's bored me to tears since All For You. She's gotta decide whether to move beyond the sex kitten thing or just hang it up...

Mariah is annoying as fuck & possibly the most insecure broad on the planet, but she can sing when she actually uses her voice. Be nice if the majority of her songs weren't pure shit.

BeyondSuede gets a bad rap b/c she's just everywhere right now. But the child can sing, is gorgeous, blah blah blah. She has Mariah's problem - shitty songs for the most part.

Britney is just a talentless skank, I don't even know why she's in the conversation but she definitely doesn't "deserve" any respect imo. Her career is the result of a horny male public & teen girls too stupid to know coo-ing shouldn't pass for "music"... but that just brings us back to Janet, doesn't it? confused

Janet- Love her, but she's gotten lazy musically and continues to bombard us with sexuality rather than creativity. Come on, girl write about something other than your vagina. We know you can!

Beyonce- Shes not bad but, girlfriend tries TOO hard and has taken a liking to screaming through songs lately.

Mariah Carey- I have no issues with Mimi smile

Britney Spears- Ok, I enjoy some of her delightfully poppy tunes, but she is pretty talentless as all of her classics owe thanks too good production. She's just a puppet

In my own words:

Janet disappointed me for releasing 3 mixed-bag albums in a row. I love her beautiful body, without question. But now it's time to retire from the hip-hop/r&b, put some clothes on, and start going back to making funky dance tracks again.

Beyonce is overexpose. But my bigger beef is actually the way her crooked father does business. THAT man is a liar and a freaking backstabber. And it's only a matter of time before too many future lawsuits will be coming his way.

Mariah needs to also retire from the hip-hop/r&b. But in an ironic twist, consider making a jazz album. I can see her breaking new ground as a jazz vocalist, with the 8th octive vocal range at full power!

Britney needs to get back in the gym and start getting back into game shape. Quit smoking! Put some clothes back on. And musically, hire some modern-day house/electro producers and make some serious dance-pop tracks for a change.

I don't hate any of 'em, but think they all should be strippers (no hatin', I love strippers). I don't buy their music for my own listening pleasure, but I will purchase for either my wife or daughter. It's very unlikely I would ever pay to go see them perform live, because I prefer bands over a solo singer act.

The only real problem I have with Mariah and Janet is that they do need to put more clothes on. I'm tired of watching them try to be sex kittens. Someone needs to tell them that sexy doesn't mean being half-assed naked. Besides that, I feel that Mariah and Janet are great. Janet has written soo many songs that have a great message ("What About" is still my all time favorite) and Mariah can sing her ass off and is a good songwriter also. I just wish that they would stop letting their images overshadow their music. Now, Beyonce and Britney are a whole other story. I hate that one of the first things that comes out of people's mouths when you say "Beyonce" or "Britney" is, "Wow, she's beautiful, hot, gorgeous...etc. etc. Of course they're pretty, because if they weren't they wouldn't have record deals...they're not that damn talented. Everytime I watch a Beyonce interview, the only thing I can think about is, "Damn, this girl sounds dumb as a rock." She just doesn't seem all that smart to me, which makes it hard for me to believe that she actually writes any of her songs. Even though her lyrics are extremely simple and lack any real depth, I still can't picture her writing them. From listening to her, I could probably have a more intellectual conversation with myself or a wall than I could with her. Plus, she just radiates fakeness and I've met more than one person who has met her and has said that she isn't the nicest person.....okay, they said she was a straight up bitch, but they also said Kelly and Michelle were super nice. But, I will say that she does have a good voice. Britney... oh, Britney. How I wanted to support her in the beginning. I'm a Louisiana girl and I have to support my own, but then, I saw that issue of Rolling Stone and read that she was only 17 disbelief. The picture on the front wasn't nearly as awful as the ones in the actual article (can you say "Kiddie Porn"?). My mom would have beat my ass if I ever walked around dressed like a $10 hooker at the age of 17 and that is what most of those photos reminded me of. Next thing I know, I'm seeing 8 year old girls dressing like her and I'm not okay with that. She sells sugar-coated sex lyrics to children, which I don't find to be a talent at all. She has disrespected and disappointed her fans on numerous occasions and that's not cool. She's lip-synched her way into millions of dollars and has lost who she is in the process. Some people talk mad shit about Christina Aguilera, but Christina has proved that she has the talent to carry whatever image she takes on. Britney is just an image and nothing more. Without the producers, songwriters, PR people, stylists, and choreographers, there would be no Britney Spears and that's sad. The only good thing I can say about Britney is that she knows how to market her image.

You asked why are these women hated on, so I gave you my opinion of Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Beyonce and Britney Spears.

I used to buy Jackson's music, but (not to sound like a music snob) I've outgrown her years ago. Jackson and producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis ran out of ideas, IMO, by the time she released 1997's "The Velvet Rope." Carey's music became so formulamatic -- weak club/dance track as first single, mawkish ballads afterwards -- that by 1995's "Daydream" you knew exactly what her next album was going to sound like.

To me, both artists have stood still musically, and still trying to be eye candy to a younger audience despite being old enough to be their target audience's mothers. It's rather sad to see them running after the same teeny-boppers Usher, Justin Timberlake, et al are going after and shun an audience that grew up with them.

IMO, Beyonce is simply the Janet/Mariah performer for today's 15-25 crowd, so inherently I would not be interested -- because I'm not in her target audience. What I have noticed is the sameness in the themes of her music and as a member of Destiny's Child -- how many variations of "Bills, Bills, Bills," "Survivor" and "Say My Name" are we going to hear from her?

As for Spears, her 15 minutes of fame is up. Her name has been trashed so much that it will be very difficult for her to be taken seriously. She needs to put on some drawers and move on with her life.

***Janet Jackson---She has failed to evolve as an artist. She's become a one-dimensional sex singer with absolutely nothing new to say.I remember buying 'Rhythm Nation' the week it came out,but I haven't bought any of her records since.Like her brother Michael, she seems afraid to take chances and try new things. She's trying to appeal to an audience that wasn't even born when 'Control' came out.

***Mariah Carey---I like Mariah alot.I don't really have any complaints about her,except....why does she have to keep doing hip-hop? Why does she need a bunch of rappers on every album? A brilliant song like "Fly Like A Bird" proves that she doesn't need all the rappers. Her voice is enough. It would be great if she could make a truly soulful album with some jazz overtones and NO hip-hop.

***Beyonce---Not really a huge fan of hers, but I do like a few songs.A song like "Deja Vu" deserves props because at least it is FAST,unlike much of the boring,midtempo,smoothed-out crap that passes for R&B these days.(It's the type of song that Janet could use right now). Her song "Listen" is also very good.

***Britney Spears---She sucks, period. There are no good qualities about her.Like Paris Hilton, she is just plain annoying and has absolutely nothing to offer,in a creative sense. She's strictly a tabloid sensation, nothing more.

so you really think Mariah is perfect.. and everyone else is crazy... lol
I agree with you about the rappers... she is too old for that... and her voice is NOT as good as it used to be.. and her songs are typical hip-hop

Beyonce was a great artist in Destiny's child and even during her first album.. after that... she really sucks now.. .and annoys me so bad...

as for Janet... you haven't said one positive thing about her... she is one of the greatest female performers... and guess what i was born 1986... i was born during control and i LOVE JJ.

Britney Does NOT suck... she is having a hard time... actually i think her music is great... but its just that she is acting skanky...

anyways guys... I should NOT have used the word hate... I should say.. .Why do these women get on your nerves.

With Janet Jackson, the public has grown tired of the oversexed image and the lame music that has come from her camp the past few years. When Madonna did it back in 1992, she did it and she moved on. By the time she dropped "Bedtime Stories" in 1994, she put her clothes back on and got back to making good music. Janet is still telling the same story about how much she enjoys sex and after all the fallout from the Super Bowl of 2004, still showing them jugs. Enough is enough. It's time to get back to what matters and that's making good music.

Mariah? I think folks hate on Mariah because when "Glitter" bombed back in 2001, everyone had written Mariah off. Then she dropped "Charmbracelet" in 2003 and it was a modest hit. Still, folks were like "Mariah... nahhh... her time has come and gone." When "Mimi" touched ground, that was unexpected for her to blow up the way she did. Mariah did what Janet should've done and that is get some top-notch producers to craft some music that caters to her talents. Folks hate on Mariah because she also got $27 million to leave a record label. How many artists ever got that luxury?

Beyonce? I love Beyonce and God knows I do. However, Beyonce has damn near run her course. It's been 10 years of Destiny's Child, films, and solo projects and it's been Beyonce Overkill! She is one artist who needs to chill for a year or two and be silent. No films, no music, no Beyonce. Just give us all a chance to miss her for a moment. I think she is trying to strike while the fire is hot but damn... the woman has done more since 1997 than some artists have done in 30 years! Just chill.

Britney Spears is a lost cause. The little girl has grown into a woman and the sad thing is she has never made that transition from pop princess into adulthood. Not to mention, she has an image that she will never separate herself from. I don't care how much she tries to go the straight and narrow now... it's over. She bored the public with her reality show with Kevin Federline and I guess deliberately showing the papparazzi the punany was gonna have folks oohing and ahhing over her. If anything, it repulsed us all. Britney needs to grow up and be a mother to her two kids and keep her panties on.

Janet: I think Janet's biggest problem is indeed that she's trying too hard to reach a young demographic. Though I liked 20 YO indeed, it be cool if she either went further back into her roots or try something different, like make an entire album based around dance music. Otherwise, she just comes across as tired these days.Too bad, cause Im a pretty big fan of hers(grew up on her and Michael).

Mariah: Other than her diva attitude, I can't give her much flack these days. Her hip hop/r&b hybrid is obviously working for her, as her last album was good. You can argue that she tries too hard to reach a young demographic, but at least she does it and succeeds at it. After all the Glitter BS, her comeback was pretty impressive, even by industry standards.

Beyonce: She's talented, but she's becoming grossly overexposed. She needs to definitely take some time off and then come back with something new rather than the same shit she keeps on pumping out. That said, I like her "Irreplaceable" jam.

Britney: Sigh...I think she's forever stuck in the land where artists like Paula Abdul and Boy George reside in. They'll always be remembered for good pop songs that were part of a certain era, yet they didn't exactly transcend into BIG artists that cross generations. Justin and Christina look like there on the route to being one of those multi generation classic artists like Madonna, Bon Jovi and U2, but Britney got left behind apparantly. You can blame the press somewhat, but Britney, especially now, provoked alot of the negative press she receives. When was her last real hit anyway? 3 years ago??

I seriously do not think people hate on mariah because of her money... because if that was the case... they would hate madonna, janet, and britney.... because they all have 50 million to 350 million...

I think people really hate on janet after the superbowl... I also noticed after janet, mariah, and britney became really skanky people hated on them.....

JANET JACKSON: In the period between "Rhythm Nation" and the "Janet" albums, midtempo shit hop was first starting to take over the R&B radio airwaves. For the "Janet" album, that so many people were looking forward to, the timing was perfect to keep either funk or dance music going on strong and knock midtempo shit hop back down in the gutter where it belonged. Instead, she joins the enemy and sells out to the shit hop sound with "That's The Way Love Goes" and helps the sound to grow even further. I dropped her ass like a hotcake after that one.

MARIAH CAREY: I never liked her. When I heard her first song "Vision Of Love", I thought it was Shitney Houston. She started out influenced by a goodie two shoes Shitney Houston....the worst thing you could be in my book....and when she got through with that sound, she got even worse slumming the the shit hoppers.

BEYONCE: I never started talking about her like a dog until she performed with Prince on the AMA Awards in 2004. I never really noticed her before that and just considered her one of the countless R&B singers who don't know any better and don't have any better taste than to do weak shit hop influenced R&B. After seeing her perform with Prince, that's when I noticed her and started talking about her because she needs to keep her shit hop ass with other shit hoppers and stay the hell away from funkateers because she's not worthy. I also saw Prince in another light also for lowering his standards.

BRITNEY SPEARS: I've never really talked about her that bad. She's on the pop side and her shit was never a threat to funk (since it had long been extinct). My beef is with shit hop which dominates R&B radio and funk (or funky dance or house music) gets no airplay because of it. As far as pop radio goes, I don't care if symphonies take over it because it was never my thing to begin with.

Janet Jackson: She easily has the best catalogue out of the group. Everything from Control to Velvet Rope is ace. Afterwards she's failed to move beyond the sex image yada yada, everyone said it already. 20 Y.O was a disappointment because it was marketed as a tribute to "Control" meanwhile it lacked the maturity and musical growth Janet experienced with the Control album.

Mariah: She's a talented vocalist. Nothing more nothing less. It seems Tommy Mattola knew how to dress her better than she knows how to dress herself. Other than that, i really have no opinion of her.

Beyonce: I can't hate her no matter how hard I try. She has attitude, class, and talent down to a tee. Her new album was really good too. As SoulAlive said, Janet needs to take note. This is how it's done. She can be sexy without deliberately being overtly sexual.

Britney: I'll say that I do enjoy some of the hits she's had, but would never buy her albums. She doesn't have the thick skin to survive stardom or the talent to be considered a worthwhile artist. Hopefully she can just take her millions and disappear.
