I have to admit that I only have this album and For The Roses. I never bothered to seek more Joni, because Blue really fulfilled me. I've listened to this album countless of times. It's like a great friend u like to listen and confide. I also listen to it alot when I'm in love. Strangely, at least one song can be applied to
the one I love at the moment. Isn't this magic?

Given to me back in 96. Never listened to it. Never been opened.

There are about 5 albums by her that I like better, but it's still damn good.

It's not quite my favourite either, but it's a uniquely excellent album. She's one of the few female singer-songwriters I can listen to without feeling like I'm drowning in treacle. She's open and emotional without being the slightest bit wimpy about it.

It's rare to find a complete album in any genre this coherent; this perfect. Thank Whoever's Up There for Joni.

I know some of her music but I don't have any of her albums. My ex-g'friend gave it to me becuz she thought I mentioned that I liked her but we still to this day don't know where she got that from . But I will check it out and see. I'm thinking most of her stuff is kinda like Carly Simon a bit, am I right?

Maybe you mentioned her in relation to Prince or something. It's no secret that he's an admirer of Joni and is influenced by her. If you've heard any of her more jazzy stuff, you can clearly hear what Prince has picked up on. Her lyrical styling as well, even from her ealrier folk songs I think.

You can totally tell where he's borrowed from her in songs like "Starfish and Coffee" and "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker" lyrically, and musically from songs of Joni's like "Down to You" (off Court and Spark, which is jazzier than her earlier folk albums) which completely reminds me of his Kamasutra in places.

I'm sure there are plenty more examples, but I'd have to have a listen again. Or I could be totally wrong, and I'm sure someone will call me out for it.

Anyway, I just brought up Prince since I figured you must be somewhat of a fan of his since you're on this site. I got into Joni after Prince, and it really helped me "get" Prince and his whole sound and hear more of his influences.

Carly Simon? Not really. I'm not a fan of her except for maybe a couple of songs, but I'd say she was more pop than Joni ever was. Maybe the Carly fans can add more about that comparison than I can because I really can't say.
