I'm listening to Be now...now on "Love is...".

I'm liking it alot. At least Commom as more content than Jay-Z's latest album. Sorry to all the jay-z fans, but I don't get how someone can rap about the same thing over and over.

The production is fabulous. the introduction of Chi-Town is crazy in a good sense.

It's like a really tight version of "Heaven Somewhere," which is more freewheeling but still IMHO his best track.

I thought the whole album was a pretty good effort from Common, although I don't think it was his best. Wonder if his new one coming out in April will be even better??? hmmm
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I don't care for Kanye much though.....better producer than artist, IMO.....

Well here is a perfect thread for this.

Early reports in 2005 about Common's Be said that 50% of the album was produced by Kanye and the other 50% by J Dilla. When the album was released, only "Love Is..." and "It's Your World" produced by Dilla made it to the ablum.

So;
1. You can expect some of those more Dilla songs to show up on the next Common album.
2. You need to check out J Dilla Donuts.

Yeah, Donuts came out, it became my instant favorite (did a thread here), then he died.

The whole thing is Dilla is still here as stuff he was working on before he died (which was ALOT) is just finally coming out now (as it would have).

Like, The Shining... that was planned to be released anyway.

It surely is! I mean, it didn't really reach the originality and genius of his previous albums like Like Water For Chocolate, One Day It'll All Make Sense, and Resurrection, but it's still a winner and probably his most focused and tightest joint...

Electric Circus is my personal favorite Common album! This album and Like Water for Chocolate were actually the albums that got me strongly into his work. Aquarius, Come Close w/ Mary J Blige, Heaven Somewhere, and New Wave were my faves from this album. I guess it was one of those "different strokes, for different folks" albums, huh!?
