How does Jody Watley's Larger Than compare to 1987 self titled album.

I think thats great just wondering how the next one measures up, does it continue with the same kind of production.

Both Classics! She will never top those albums!

Not nearly as good. The first album had all fast jams and no ballads. Unfortunately "Larger Than Life" had some ballads....and they weren't even very good ballads. "Real Love" is probably the only song I ever listen to on this album.

I am with you on that one. The second album was very bland. I only liked real love and lifestyle. I was not even that impressed with everything which was a
weak ballad. As much respect i have for rakim, jody's collaboration with him on
friends was pretty weak too. I actually liked jody's third album affair of the heart better than the second album.

I liked both albums. She kinda labeled herself as a dance artist after the first album. Everyone was looking for a repeat of just dance music. The slow jams were alright, it was different to hear her sing something mellow.

real love was the first jody song I knew, just before first grade began. I discovered her first album hits in the late 90's and recently rediscovered her and have been playing her on heavy rotation. I think the stuff on her first album is more raw & real and songs like still a thrill and most of all still give me chills. But then again that could have to do with that prince protege from the time working with her, which was a beautiful collaboration. I think larger than life is more hip hop/new jack swing and a little bit too commercial though still a nice effort. I really like that song I'm the one you need from 1991, it's sooo underrated when it comes to jody. The melody, words, music and even the video with her dancing is brilliant. She should have gotten more promotion cause she belongs up there with janet and madonna and even puts them to shame at times

I hated that one. Too midtempo sounding...and there ain't a damn thing you can do with midtempo music. "Everything" was decent but it sure as hell wasn't one of those sexy slow jams that you could sleep with a stranger at 2:00 in the morning with....the only kind of slow jams I like.

listening to still a thrill and most of all right now. She was truly at her peak with the self-titled debut
