This is really irritating me!!!!

Why does she always pose with the right side of her face? What is she hiding over there on the left?

Does anyone know what her problem is?

Can someone be THAT insecure?

She is getting better about it though, but I just NEED to know why she does that.

the sad thing is that it has become such an issue that when she does show her other side, people automatically look for a defect or something. if she would've shown both sides of her mug from the get go no one would've cared or noticed anything. but hey..she's got us talking about it so.

I think quite a few female aritsts tend to favor one side. I just did a quick look at Madonna's albums. She is often photographed with her face leaning at least slightly to the left...with "True Blue", it's exteremly obivious, other times it's just a tlight. Then again, her face is directly up front in ohters, like "Madonna" and "You Can Dance".

Her teeth look better from one side.

If you look at the older Hollywood films, you'll find that quite a few actors shot entire pictures on one side. When a good part of your career is about the visual, you are always aware. It's not so odd.

Yep, it's Sony that planted that in her when she was starting out, that and the big forehead.

She got over the forehead issue, but the left side thing she tried a couple of times (and still do) to get over it but she failed 'cause they apparently had her very insecure about it.

It was part of her image grooming when she 1st came out.

Tommy did the best he could to overshadow the fact that she's a black woman, but with all the heavy make-up, lightning, dark clothes and the right angles to shoot pix from, he couldn't succeed.

At least, that was her side of the story. And obviously, it made a lasting impression on her to this day.

We can't hold that against her, though.

Being inscure doesn't just pop up outta the blue, it piles up from the beginning. Which means, her surrounding(I.E. her parents) caused that, regardless if they didn't mean to hurt her.

When you see an inscure person, 90% becoz of the parents(an early divorce and growing up in Long Island with nothing but white people poisoning your dog, burning your car and doing ALL kinds of bullying on your ass will take its toll eventually, I guess).

Exactly! People sometimes think that fame,fortune,awards, and all that take away the Insecurities but most of the time those things make the insecurities even stronger. In Mariahs case she never really had friends as a kid because the family tended to move around alot, and of course being the victim of racism where she did live obviously took a toll on her. So i think the Mariah we see, all dressed up,killer body,legs,short outfits, is Mariah trying to cover up the insecure things she feels. If you notice when Mariah takes a picture in public she is always smiling and when she does smile look at her eyes, their almost Sad like she doesnt want to smile, like she feels this whole thing can be taken from her. Underneath it all she is still a person.

I read once that she doesn't like that side of her face because she has a mole on her chin so she doesn't want it to come out in pictures.
