Name A Song That Is Too RACY For Its Time

Although this is not the official release. There's a 60's rnb song called "You Better Think Twice"(Version X) by LaVern Baker and Jackie Wilson where they used ALOT of nasty profanity.

A song that comes to mind for me is 'Lets Spend The Night Together' by The Stones from 1967. The dj's forced them to put the b-side, 'Ruby Tuesday' as the radio single instead. The song is certainly not controversial from today's standpoint, but I suppose it was way different back in those days.

You could probably do a whole series of Stones' songs that were too racy for their day. And of course all of the old blues songs from back in the '40s and '50s really.

Do I assume by the term 'racy' that you mean songs which have a sexual content in them? I ask because there are certainley many songs with topics that would be deemed as being very controversial(songs about drugs,violence,suicide,etc...). But like I said, I am assuming do to the word 'racy' that you are speaking about songs dealing with the themes of sex and sexuality in them.

"Wake Up Little Suzy" by The Everly Bros. I read they caught a lot of hell for the content of that song back in the 50's. Heard it was banned in a few states too and some stations wouldn't play it.

Latifa's new song with Ziah El-Rahbani, titled "Be Nos El-Jaw",,

That song is down right about Sex lol

It's causin' some fuss, even though the funny thing is, Ziad has been doin' this whole sexual innuendo thing 4 AGES in his music, it's just that this is the 1st time he does it with a high profile Artist a la Latifa.

Soon I'll Be Loving You Again by Marvin Gaye. This was a song from his 1976 classic, I Want You, and this song had Marvin saying things like "give me some head". This was one of the most explicit songs Marvin Gaye ever released toward a mainstream audience. Actually most of the material on the I Want You album was steamy.

Air Supply - "All out of Love", hands down

I'm lying alone with my head on the phone
Thinking of you till it hurts jerkoff whofarted
I know you hurt too but what else can we do
Tormented and torn apart eek
I wish I could carry your smile and my heart
For times when my life feels so low
It would make me believe what tomorrow could bring
When today doesn't really know, doesn't really know

Chorus:
I 'm all out of love, I'm so lost without you
I know you were right believing for so long
I 'm all out of love, what am I without you
I can't be too late to say that I was so wrong

I want you to come omfg back and carry me home
Away from this long lonely nights
I'm reaching for you, are you feeling it too boff confused
Does the feeling seem oh so right
And what would you say if I called on you now
And said that hah! I can't hold on
There's no easy way, it gets harder each day mr.green
Please love me or I'll be gone, I'll be gone

Chorus

Oh, what are you thinking of? horny
What are you thinking of? horny
Oh, what are you thinking of? horny
What are you thinking of? horny

It was not played on the radio in my area when I grew up, so I didn't hear it until I bought the album.

Shake, Rattle & Roll included the line "I'm like a one eyed cat peepin' in a seafood store".
Also many blues tracks such as:

I'm A Mighty Tight Woman - Sippie Wallace
My Stove's In Good Condition - Lil Johnson
Crazy 'Bout My Lollipop - Ada Brown
If It Don't Fit, Don't Force It - Barrelhouse Annie

If interested a compilation CD was released a few years ago featuring explicit blues tracks entitled "Banana In My Fruitbowl".

All of you ladies out there turn up your radio
Girls, I'm about to tell you something You may wanna know
You know things they're not always
What they appear to be
And I don't want to happen to you
What happened to me

Listen, There are no words that can describe, what I felt inside
When I found out the man I loved loved another guy
We were at a party, Ohh to have a little fun
But when I looked around my-my man was missing
I walked outside, I couldn't believe my eyes
He was in Bill's arms breathin hard and french kissin

I was ready for Mary, Susan, Helen and Jane
When all the time it was Bill who was sleeping with my man

Bill has been to my house a thousand times
He and my man would go camping and fishing
Oh I tell you it never crossed my mind
Bill was a friend and he was God Uncle to my only son
Now it looks Uncle Billy wants to be his step-mom

Now you see I was ready for Mary, I was ready for Jane
How do a woman compete with a man for another man

I asked my man why didnt you tell me that you were gay
when you knew, knew I build my world around you
I knew I had those feelings and I didn't want it to be
I thought by being with you, Girl I thought it would change
As tears came to my eyes, hesays I'm sorry I hurt you so
I got to pack Bill is waiting for me and I got to go

I was ready for Mary, I was ready for Jane
When all the time it was Bill who was sleeping with my man

I don't feel ashame and I don't take the blame
My man was just a queen, he was a Queen that thought he was a King
He told before he left he said
I know you're hurt and oh I know you're mad
But if that's not asking too much,
could you tell my son I love him and I'm still his dad

I was ready for Mary, Susan, Helen and Jane
When all the time it was Bill who was sleeping with my man

I was ready for Mary, Susan, Helen and Jane
When all the time it was Bill who was sleeping with my man

Bill used to come over to my house, I used to fix him my food
I used to loan Bill my money, all the time he was in there tryin to get
my honey eek
Space for sale...
