Perhaps a golden age of a genre can be in the past, which is why people think no new "classics" can arise. But if you heard Chromeo, for instance, you'd know funk is alive.

I'd say Chromeo's album is as good a Funk record as you'll.
For me it's up there with Zapp, Cameo, The Time etc. Some great New Wave Funk.

I was in the record store not too long ago trying to think of the name of the group so I could buy the CD. The closest name that kept coming to my mind was Cameo and I couldn't think of Chromeo to save my life. . . [Edited 1/18/07 10:12am] Andy is a four letter word.

As much as I love funk and have bitched about today's music being boring. So many people have recommended me new music (only for it to turn out to be boring slow shit). So when someone recommends Chromeo, I hear it, and I say that I like it.....you know it's funky. Andy is a four letter word.

I knew someone would pull me up on that one and I agree that it's not really a funk album but it has some very funky moments so I thought I'd include it. Still it's a great great album
