cool, spooky instrumental tracks

hey folks.. i'm making a mix CD and I'm almost finished with it - i'm missing one piece. I need an instrumental track, something kinda dark and spooky, preferably mid-tempo and very atmospheric. looking for something with alot of space in it... not too noisy. I'm going to put samples of Kate Bush on it. I've been scouring my CDs for something that works, but so far coming up blank. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!! cool

Gary Numan's "Asylum" is pretty creepy. ditto on the Air tracks mentioned. I used "Dead Bodies" for a light show I had to do in class. lol

Flatlands by Clan of Xymox is very atmospheric and has quite an edge ~ I always feel like I'm underwater when I hear it. It seems relaxing but has a lot of undercurrents,

"I Did It Just the Same" by Eurythmics? She does scat some vocals, but there aren't lyrics...

thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming cool I'm going to try and track some of them down. I have one that might work, "Draconian Dream" by Sex Gang Children... i've created a mashup with it and 3 Kate Bush songs - Waking the Witch, Jig of Life and Hello Earth. I like it, but i'm not 100% sure if it works.

Any Kate fans out there who can give me feedback on it? Org me plz. :->

I cannot think of any strickly instrumentals, but man I wish that you could take out all of the vocals on Zeppelin's 'No Quarter'. It is undeniably errie, yet strangely inviting and relaxing to hear even with all the spooky sounds going on it. And its all very musical too, rather than just some person simply throwing together a bunch of spooky noises on record without any hint of creativity behind it all.

Robert Plant killed that song with his Kermit The Frog vocals! It could have been a beautiful and haunting instrumental song without the horrible vocal track.

I do think that it is difficult to find a spooky instrumental track, especially in rock music that does not wander off into self-parody and having the artist eventually going overboard with their own ideas.

REALLY nice song... kinda reminded me of what Thom Yorke doing film music might sound like. Thanks for recommending it!

I have about 200 CDs' worth of spooky instrumental tracks, so I really wouldn't know where to start.

No problem, there are few more really nice one's on the album, but that one really just took my breathe away.

There was an instrumental on Massive Attack's Protection that might work. I think it was called Heat Miser, but I'm not positive - haven't listened to it in years.
